He's wants to be a celebrity with his wife and I don't want that in Vegas under center. Plus, his teammates are getting sick of his antics.
That's where I disagree. I don't think it's viable to even bother trying to get the next HOF QB; bc that's chasing rainbows. But that's off topic so I'll stomp my feet and piss my pants about it later.
Draft a Qb you like every year any round If you hit on the pick you look like a genius. If the 3rd/7th rounder Becomes a back up or released wouldn't be a big deal

You have it or you don't.
Carr happens to have both, the "it" and the "don't"
8-8
Probably a bit more don't, so 35 it, 65 don't?

Love Carr. Hate Carr. Neutral. What-ever....
With a year left on his contract why in the Hell would Mark Davis ever extend him before his contract is up?? Besides he's Clueless....

Gamble and lose on a QB high in the draft.
Gamble and win on a QB high in the draft.
Gamble and be average on a QB high in the draft.
The Chiefs were a good/great team with Alex Smith and still took a gamble on Mahomes. The Chargers dumped Rivers and went and took a gamble on Herbert. The Broncos will be looking to upgrade/Gamble next year. The Raiders have to do something at the QB situation next year in my opinion.

But the reality is that we have the best QB in the league in our division and one of the best QB in the league. We're looking at 10+ years of having to compete with two great QBs. And what if Denver lands Rodgers this offseason?
f[raiders_icon]ck that.
We've seen teams stop Mahomes and we've seen teams stop Herbert. If we can field a defense that can stop both, that means 1) We can stop any offense in the league and 2) We can win the division. But what that also means is that we can't spend big money on offensive skill players. We'd need a grinding O-line with a vet like Minshew or Foles or Mariota under center. Get a set of competent WRs and TEs, along with a versatile set of RBs, and then we don't have take a huge risk in the draft. And if our starting QB goes down for a few weeks, it's not the end of the world because we can still win games with our D. If we lost some WRs, RBs, or TEs to injury, it wouldn't be all that devastating.
We have lost the quarterback wars. At this point we're villagers hurling molotov cocktails at modern tanks. Sure, we might take one out with a lucky throw once in a while, but in the end we're still gonna get massacred.
0 playoffs appearance in 8 years
Not a Carr apologist, but this “0 playoff games” stat is really skewed. He would have had at least 1 or even more if not for the broken leg. He brought us to the playoffs in 2016 and deserves that acknowledgment. This stat is just a misrepresentation of the facts.

That ain't happening if you want to build a good team in all phases.......Even if we could there are going to be injuries, etc that the team will have to overcome............Add in what Carr will want $$$ wise on a new contract and the decision should be easy.
We can get a journeyman QB to fill his void and outperform the offense we've seen the past many games...Especially if all we do is play pussyball checking it down....At this point gimme a "decent" on the cheap stop gap and draft someone we feel has potential whether it's early or mid rounds in the draft.
I'd be more than happy with a guy like Minshew...What he lacks in arm talent compared to Carr he more than makes up for everywhere else.......And even if he fared no better the $$$ we save can be invested in the defense which clearly needs all the help it can get.

That was a wild and crazy season and we were so damn lucky so many times but it was fun. I drank the koolaid and was so excited for 2017. That was when my heart was broken.

Where there’s smoke there’s fire in play here?
Would love to see it happen but I'll believe only when I see it.Not because I think Mariota is a great QB but more to see how Carr reacts with the kid gloves finally off and to give his self entitled ass a dose of reality

It's the same as if Carr throws a nice pass right in a WR's hand but it bounces off and is intercepted. We watch and say wasn't his fault but the stats will go down as an INT regardless.

The Saints, broncos, Steelers, browns are all more or less running a version of that philosophy and it looks like an equally painful existence to what we’ve lived.
Gonna have a hell of a time trying to keep that team together for more than a few years. And at the end of the day I don’t know how much further ahead you are when the true Super Bowl contenders have both great QBs and great teams.
I’ve been a fence sitter with Carr. I loathe the idea of getting rid of him for a stop gap but also find myself every draft thinking “f[raiders_icon]ck it - take a shot on _______”. I think if you’re moving on from Carr you’ve gotta go for broke. Not a fan of trying to money-ball the QB position.
Maybe a point for another thread but I think Kenny Pickett looks like a damn good option. If the Raiders feel that way about a prospect I say go ahead and trade Carr. I think we’ll get at least a 1st which, if used properly could help immensely. You’ve got 4 years of bargain cheap QB play to round out your roster… and that’s how we become a consistent threat to the chiefs/chargers.
