I know he was getting some hype a year or so ago and believe he may of had an interview or two this cycle but his hype seems to of died a bit imo. hopefully this isn't an appeasement hire

Again, Kubiak knows his job is tied to results. he is not going to make a hire based on settling or appeasing anyone. He needs to put the best possible product on the field so he is going to hire the best available option at each and every position on his staff. I heard his press conference. He is driven to succeed.

Well, every great defensive coordinator started somewhere. Leonard brings a lot of energy to the job.

What it tells me is Schwartz was not moving to a new team. He was the one guy I would have seen as a great option. Leonard seems mediocre because he was part of a defense that also was mid. But the guy has been widely considered up and coming the last couple years

Gotta remember that Leonard has coached under MIke McDonald when he was at Baltimore as OLB coach and McDonald was the DC. So he knows quite a bit about McDonald's scheme and defensive philosophy which might be a plus for Kubiak.

It’s looking like the HC, OC, and DC will all be in their 30s.

Ok but to be fair, you are blindly giving Kubiak the benefit of the doubt. Believe me, I love the hire of Kubiak but the reality is he's a first time head coach. We don't know that he knows what he doesn't know yet (if that makes sense). Every head coach is driven to succeed. Some just suck at actually succeeding.Attyla wrote: Sat Feb 14, 2026 1:50 pm Again, Kubiak knows his job is tied to results. he is not going to make a hire based on settling or appeasing anyone.
