I don’t see how Carr is even on the roster next year. Half the team are pending FAs, almost no cap room, won’t even have enough room to sign their draft picks. It makes all the big signings look really dumb, or genius because the only way the math will work in fielding a team is to dump or trade Carr.
That's exactly what's going to happen at "only" a 5 million cap hit. Which would bring us roughly to 60 million in cap space.
Stidham will be the bridge guy for the rookie they are going to draft...

Stidham will be the bridge guy for the rookie they are going to draft...
I might be in the minority that doesn’t think we’re in a bad cap spot at all. Parham and Munford have been kind of revelations and assuming their trajectory is up we may not necessarily have a huge o-line problem going forward. For the most part our entire starting O is under contract minus jacobs and hollins.
Question is really whether we’ve got enough resources to upgrade the D. IMO a good draft and jones waking up makes a huge difference. Crosby, Jones, moehrig and Hobbs are all under contract and perryman probably doesn’t cost a ton to bring back. Get a good DT and corner through the draft and this D looks worlds better.
While we don’t necessarily have a stacked roster we don’t necessarily have too many glaring holes either. DT is probably the only major one. With that being said…. A rookie QB deal would be massively advantageous. f[raiders_icon]ck no to “stidham the bridge” though. Move up and get a top prospect to start day 1 if that’s the plan (I’m all in on Bryce young)

Unless overthecap.com is wrong we’re f[raiders_icon]cked next year.

If Stidham isn't the guy they will have to go out and find a vet who will play for 2-4, 5 million? Guess that could be possible I was just thinking Stidham knows the system through and through and he's here.
Unless overthecap.com is wrong we’re f[raiders_icon]cked next year.
we can get out of some of that pretty easy. But the big contracts end up costing you down the road. Restructuring can help but we tied in a lot of guaranteed money on some of those deals.

If we can do the former we’d more than likely get 3 or 4 picks with which you can replace both with
I think the way those contracts were written were so that McDaniels could evaluate what he had before cutting the strings with certain players he may be being far more conservative in getting his guys after what happened in Denver with Cutler
If we could somehow get a 1st & 2nd by trading both then get there replacement cheap

If the idea is the bridge guy gives you a better chance for the year - you need a viable starter. Truth be told carr would be by far our best bridge QB (though probably not possible or practical).
For me I think our offence is rookie friendly. You’ve got 3 great weapons and an o-line that should be returning most of its starters. If you can get Jacobs back (which I’d think would be a good idea with a rookie QB) you’ve also got a great RB.
Bryce young and this offence would set the league on fire. That’s my pipe dream currently. We’d also have a boatload of money to address the D. Get a good Dt and one of the top corners to play opposite Hobbs and suddenly this roster looks kind of like the chargers.

The geriatric signings of Jones and Adams will haunt us for years. We will struggle to field a competitive roster next year unless they part with wonder boy.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting for them to be thinking about being viable with a bridge guy so I was guessing on Stidham seeing he has so much familiarity with the offense. Steelers brought in Trubisky and of course he stunk it up and there rookie is already starting. I was taking along those lines. Stidham hangs in there for maybe half the season, bye week, insert rookie? Just spitballin'...

Well don't forget that if Carr goes so does Adams. He came here to play with Carr as well as get out of Green Bay and was willing to sit out the whole year if not traded.
