Free Agency thread for Raiders and league-wide
Free agency opens March 11. CBS Sports has their top 50 ranking. No Raiders on the list. I am surprised at a couple rated high - Aaron Rodgers and Daniel Jones. Lots of wide receivers

OK, it's sunk to the Austin Hooper level of signings. I guess it's over.

...yeah, I think the changing of regimes has been a huge factor in this, but it still seems like we must be a league leader in being the farm club for a lot of other teams. ...i'm hoping that that changes with these guys, or at least, do a better job of getting something when they leave.heavyD wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2026 10:03 am Development matters. When almost every new season begins with a new coaching staff it’s probably going to hurt the development of some young players. Hopefully this new regime has legs.

I wanted Gainwell, but was hoping we'd get him for less than this.

"Cheap" veteran RBs seem to be not so great deals unless you think they will start. I never understood it personally. Just get a guy with fresh legs in the draft. RBs rarely need to be developed. Paying for experience that will spend 2/3 of the snaps on the sideline seems counterintuitive to mechucker wrote: Mon Mar 09, 2026 10:11 am I wanted Gainwell, but was hoping we'd get him for less than this.

I wonder if a couple of these big names haven’t signed yet because they are deciding between a winning team and the Raiders money.
I’d like Lloyd and Linderbaum.

...not sure if it is related, but supposedly the ravens are in the process of trying to rework the huge QB contractor, so perhaps that is part of the lack of any news regarding him, as word has been that he'd prefer to stay.....

We still need to spend 90% of the cap so I don’t think being sleep is an option and I don’t think we have enough good players to eat all the available cash we have with resignings

...despite not grossly overspending on day 1, or at least, not having done so yet, it is not like we haven't seen that there are still going to be a boatload of opportunities to spend a boatload of cash, and with a much better chance of doing so more wisely, and while filling out our boatload of holes, after day 1.
