Carr has the best deep arm punt in the game with the longest hang time and it’s not even close, you’re welcome.
Newsflash: A screen can be a 99 yard completion.
Newsflash: A screen is not a deep throw.
Carr is 3/14 with two interceptions this season on 20+ AIR yards. It is why he said 'incapable of throwing deep'.
We know how good our offensive weapons are, this is about Derek being unable to complete deep passes.
Sources - Read my comments two pages back where I explained this to SooperK - with stats and gamecharts for every detail.
yea I think that one is misleading a bit. You get yards credit for the athletic abilities of your receivers. Anyone who watches Carr's deep balls can see he often throws in such a way that it slows down their route since he is probably one of the lower level guys who throw deep balls that lead his receivers.
To be honest, QBs get a lot of their stats based on the quality of the guys catching their passes. It is why YAC yards are really telling. Last year Carr was pretty high on the list of air yards per catch and intended air yards per attempt. This year he is still up there among the top 10. Ironically, he is exactly 1 yard ahead of Geno Smith in actual yards and on pace for around 4400 yards and around 26 TDs. Those numbers would be around his average for his career. So glad we spent all that money on the offense, it is really paying off.

He is doing much better on taking those 8-15 yard passes this year and we have had a ton open in that range.
I should add also, all of the counter arguments are using volume stats for a 2:1 passing vs ground attack team. Total # of x is really not applicable in this discussion because X is a much higher number for Carr compared to most others.

Goff going off is tough to track too.
For some players, when everything goes to shit, they’re the first to stop the bleeding. Sure, the water is filling the boat, and it’s all he can do to keep everyone’s head afloat, but he makes sure everyone stays above water long enough that they can bail themselves out.
For other players, when everything goes to shit, they also go to shit. Water fills the boat and everyone panics and drowns. So far in his career, Carr is in this camp. Defense folds, Carr folds. Offensive line breaks down and Carr has a career day, in fumbles. Not always, but too often.
Now is the time to step into the other camp. Not everything is perfect but this is a team with high expectations. Start setting this in the right direction. Now or never, not after the bye week, now. Lead the way, and do the improbable and beat the chiefs. We have a good team but we have to score. It’s on you QB1
The bolded part really stood out for me. I think I've seen a pretty well coached team, that is performing reasonably well in almost every facet (Carr included outside of week 1). I don't think we have looked like a 1-3 team, and to a certain extent I'm left grasping at straws if I don't address the monkey in the room. What is the real issue as to why no matter what we do we can't figure out ways to win games?
My layman's answer? I don't really see anything 'special' about Carr anymore as a player. I think that's kind of what you're trying to capture into words. Too often we resort to stats in order to denigrate each other's opinions but I think if you watch as many Carr games as we do, the unbiased observer sees him for what he is. That's why I posted my earlier post. He didn't have a bad game by any means against the Broncos. But I still feel sick to my stomach in a way that only an underperforming QB who's guaranteed a job can do. It brings me back to Jamarcus, really, where you know that only time can fix the problem. Even when Jamarcus won it was bittersweet, because you knew as long as he was a Raider, we would never amount to anything.
The stat I care about most for a QB is TD passes, Carr is on pace for his usual 20 or so. Always hoping for 30+ but he seems incapable. Oh well, all that really matters is wins, would be nice if the team can find a way to 10 wins again.
This has been one of the better indicators of elite QB play, specifically TD-TO ratio, and he's always been as bad as bad can get. You compare Carr to most of the worst QBs in the league and he is similar in this regard, the rest of his stats are inflated because bad QB's usually don't get a long leash like he does.

I just cannot accept a quarterback that performs as badly as he does inside the 20. As more than one person has said, this is not exclusive to this scheme he's playing in now. It's been an issue with previous coaches and schemes too. Getting field goals 75% of your trips to the redzone is just not going to cut it in our division

Derek Carr Inside The Redzone After 4 Weeks:
Inside the 20:
13 for 34 38.24 completion %
Inside the 10:
6 for 20 30 percent completion %
Those are terrible stats, might as well just run it every time the Raiders are in the Redzone....
The thing is, I expected this. First, he has had Denver's number for a while. Second, he puts together these types of games during the season every year. It is the inconsistency that is a huge part of his Achilles. He rarely follows up a really solid game with another. Sept-mid November sure, we get them but it does not last. His numbers tend to decline, and his mistakes tend to incline. This is why he hangs around, he is good enough to make the various braintrusts say, "he is good enough to win games so the risk of moving on is just too great." Unfortunately, he is just bad enough to make us grit our teeth at times.
So nobody should be surprised by the win or his performance. But equally, nobody should be surprised if it does not last.
This was not a solid game. This was very pedestrian. All he did was not lose it. 188 yards and no TDs is a very low bar. I’m used to him having some solid air raid style games 250-300 and 2 TDs then these types with under 200 and no TDs. He didn’t turn it over so that’s a plus but as far as nfl qbs go this was very low level production

it worked
Absolutely. The gameplan worked. But 188 yards and no TDs is a very pedestrian game that almost any nfl qb can accomplish. See Trent dilfer in 2000

30-40 mil for a game manager is silly and needs to be fixed in ‘23
