Ronnie James Dio- "Rainbow In The Dark"....
Saw Dio years ago when I was in high school. I was barely aware of him, but my buddy wanted me to go with him. Show was in some old barn out in the middle of nowhere in Antioch, CA. I remember we had to drive down this long dirt road for awhile just to find the parking lot - definitely wondering if we were completely lost. In my memory, I figured I must have seen him as his popularity was waning since it was in such a desolate venue. I recently decided to see if I could find any record of it on the internet - it turns out it was the very first public show he played as a solo artist.
Came to appreciate him much more in later years.

Since Dio came up, tell me if any of you can hear what I'm talking about on this video. Right at 0:48 Vivian Campbell does a dive on his vibrato bar - at the end of the dive, there is a brief, really distinct tone that comes from the slackened string sticking to the magnetic charge on the pickup. It's just a beautiful thing to my ears. My old Floyd Rose used to do that, but I replaced it. The new one is a better unit, in general, but it doesn't do this, and I miss being able to get that tone.
