Before Carr,Gannon was our best QB.Who was the best QB before Gannon?

It's not like good QB's grow on trees.
I love this logic.

Assertion 1: Things were bad before
Assertion 2: Things are less bad now
Conclusion: Therefore things can never be better
Addendum to Conclusion: There is no need to attempt improvement

“For me to not want to throw it to [Adams] … I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that,” Carr said Wednesday. “But I get what Dan’s trying to say. Everyone wants to see Davante get all the yards and catches. But if you flip him and Mack’s numbers, no one’s saying anything.”

What a bunch of bullshit, how about if you throw to Adams when he's wide open instead of an incomplete pass both Adams and Mack have good numbers and the Raiders might have actually won last week.
I watched the Raiders win Super Bowl XVIII and never dreamed I'd be in my early 50s and still waiting on Lombardi #4. A few years later, I watched my Dodgers win the World Series over the A's and never thought they wouldn't win the big one again for the next 30+ years. I can tell you that I appreciated the Dodgers' 2020 World Championship WAY more than the one I watched when I was 17 years old.
Stop crying for f[raiders_icon]cks sake.

You still have plenty of good years ahead of you to be disappointed.

Here's my take, as it has been for 2 seasons. Draft the next QB to not start but prepare to start if necessary and keep Carr as starter. Both of the 2 best young QBs started on the bench: Allen behind Peterman until he was benched and Herbert behind Tyrod Taylor until he was ruled out medically. I think that gives us the best chance of not sliding backwards on QB performance.

Taylor's injury was minutes before the first quarter. Herbert just had great skills from day 1.

If you draft Carr's replacement, trade Carr so you get something for him and sign a stop gap if you want the rookie to sit.

I would like the next QBv for us to have that luxury as well as then having time to learn the of the field things like learning good to prepare for an NFL week, developing film study habits, managing the practice schedule and developing an NFL body. I want then to have the best chance of success

There is nothing like getting out there and experiencing game speed on day one. That is a powerful school of thought. It is actually one I subscribe to very much. Especially with the technological advances which gives young QBs huge tools to accelerate their development.
Liked you said, 2 different approaches and both have been successful.
there is the poisoned pill issue with yours though. Montana and Young, Favre and Rodgers, and others. Dividing the locker room is never something I want to see happen and in this case, with Adams having come here to play with Carr the chances of such a thing would be strong. Not saying this happens every time but often enough with high profile high draft picks to be a concern and certainly something the staff would have to take into consideration.
