Based on what? His defenses have not been impressive or consistent. He gets no pressure on QBs. Red flag city.haji81872 wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 10:16 am Evero is going to be a good head coach someday. Talk about a leader of men.
Not all these interviews are to satisfy the Rooney Rule. I think there is legit interest in McDaniel.

Not until we interview him in person, which has me thinking. Does the fact that we're interviewing two Rooney candidates in Miami, mean that Scheelhaase is out? If they planned to hire him, seems unnecessary to interview both guys in south Florida, but perhaps just due dilligence? We are interviewing Joe Brady, so maybe they really haven't made up their minds yet, although something tells me they know exactly who they want to hire at this point and the South Florida interviews are to wrap up this thing.

Satisfy the Rooney Rule when you can. You never know that you’ll get a chance to interview another candidate before he takes another job because someone else offered him the moon.

Chips are about to begin to fall. Get the requirement out of the way, get your guy, let him begin to staff up.chucker wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 10:34 am Satisfy the Rooney Rule when you can. You glean things from interviews. Questions about staff and such. If we hire a guy who has less experience, teaming up to flesh out the staff is a must so hearing names during interviews is always a plus.Corleone wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 10:24 am Not until we interview him in person, which has me thinking. My gut tells me Webb is getting the nod, not sure why and absolutely no "insider" stuff but just my gut.

I understand that, the question was who on the list of potential interviews would satisfy the Rooney rule, nor whether or not they had their in person interview.Corleone wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 10:24 am Not until we interview him in person, which has me thinking. Maybe the Florida interviews are to have back up plans ready in case their #1 pick is hired out from under them? Or to get a jump on potential OC/DC candidates or both?

Would be great if we made a hire before the S Bowl comes around.
Let new dude staff up and start talking personnel, woo hoo.

It’s possible that the Raiders have already agreed in principle with a hc candidate and they are using this interview window to familiarize themselves with the hc’s preferred OC/DC candidates?Attyla wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 10:41 am You glean things from interviews. Add me to the Mike McDaniel group.
I think he would be the perfect hire. I don’t care what happened in Miami, he had a sorry ass QB with no leadership skills and it trickled down from there.

How in God's name would he be the perfect hire? The dude can barely speak or wear pants properly let alone lead men. He's the definition of "needs to remain a coordinator".NoClapsPlease wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 11:45 am Add me to the Mike McDaniel group.

Not advocating for his hiring but McDaniel did not have a problem leading his team. And if he was a loser in that area why would you want him in a coordinator’s role?BoKnows81 wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 11:49 am How in God's name would he be the perfect hire? Oh yeah id love a guy with a losing record in college whos defense just blew an 18 point lead in the playoffs. Id much prefer Mcdaniels over someone like Hafley
