He is really not worth this thread, he is actually getting more attention than our penciled in starter. I think we need a thread to discuss our backup punter. Oh wait.Hellbound wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 9:03 am I don't think he's as horrible as others, I do however think his production could be closely matched by an udfa. The dude has a 20/17 td to turnover ratio if you include his fumbles and has taken 35 sacks in 21 games and can't move. Just glancing at stats, Jake Browning and Tyler Huntley have similar career stats

Not many, including myself, would be able to name the QB2 for other teams, and fewer still could name their QB3.
Yeah, 1 or 2 will say they can, but that's to be expected.

Maybe this thread should be locked since there are clearly family members of AO12 on here. Specifically, a proud momma who always has little Aidy's back.

I'd love to get Allar as a late round pick, but I suspect some team is going to take him much higher than expected based on his physical skills.GoodTimeCharlie wrote: Sat Apr 11, 2026 8:33 pm Day 3 to UDFA.
Here’s a few guys that may fit Kubiak’s scheme.
4-5 range which I don’t think is happening.
Drew Allar Penn State 6’5”
Cade Klubnik Clemson 6’2”
6-7 range. Mmmmmaybe.
Athan Kaliakmanis Rutgers 6’2”
UDFA range. Makes the most sense if it were to happen.
Mark Gronowski South Dakota State 6’2”
Luke Altmyer Illinois 6’2”
Obviously nothing set in stone. FO may be fine with AOC. Just like they might be fine with the WR room and our OL guys drafted last year. No way of knowing until the draft.

Oh yea, I do not understand the appeal of the guy. He has gotten a lot of milage for a limited amount of talent. I am not opposed to the guy as a backup in years past because he was a system match. He just is not now. He cannot RPO which I hope we do not use much, and he cannot play action and he is not mobile enough for the new regime. So why keep a guy who cannot run the system we are moving toward? And it is not about the money eitherXramfan wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 11:36 am It’s interesting some keep posting in Carr and Aiden threads about people posting in Carr and Aiden threads lol

And "the system"?...like it's some kind of sacred manuscript. 95% of the roster doesn't know the system yet either and the system won't do a 3rd string much good if he's called upon to the next level and neither would a supposed upgraded possible replacement for AOC.

OK, but why keep a guy who is not a fit just to keep a guy? The third string QB is easy to find who is closer to a system fit during the preseason cuts and not only a system fit but a bit cheaper. I don't care really about the money but keeping this guy knowing he does not fit just makes little sense. It is about building a roster that makes sense. It has not been nor should it ever be about keeping a round peg on a square peg board. Keep him for now, trot him out there to take meaningless second half snaps until the right guy drops, and snatch him up. There is zero reason to keep him one minute longer if that guy drops and there will be more than a few because teams will be carrying 4 or more QBs on the roster during preseason but nobody w8ill be keeping more than 3 on their active roster at the end of preseason. This is a no brainer thing.raidersince63 wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 12:45 pm Surprised?...lol. People complain about the thread having unjustified legs, yet they continue to post in it.

Again, the system is unknown to virtually to everyone at this point... they'll have to learn it like everyone else.
So why can a QB because he has yet to be connect with his 4th incoming coach in his soon to be 4th season?
Kubiak's system is mostly based on zone blocking and the running game being successful and if any team can achieve that they will likely be more successful with the passing game, neither of which the Raiders have had in recent years. If the Raiders rebuild the line the right way QBS #1, #2 and #3 will all have a better chance to shine if/when called upon.

No, that is not the case. We would not have brought in Cousins if they did not know what the system is going to be. They brought in a guy with a specific skill set to help train Mendoza in the system. I don't like Cousins but I get why they brought him in. And he and O'Connell are polar opposites. So again, it bears the question, why keep a guy one moment more than needed that does not fit? You seem to think we are going to get away from what Kubiak has been known for his entire career. You build the team with guys who fit. You do not keep guys who do not. It is absolutely the wrong thing to do to just keep a guy for some mysterious reason that revolves around some notion of continuity. Change things you can change that makes sense and replacing a QB3 is about the easiest thing to do. Only finding a kicker is easier, or the ball boy.raidersince63 wrote: Sun Apr 12, 2026 1:14 pm Again, the system is unknown to virtually to everyone at this point... they'll have to learn it like everyone else.
