I'm going to put this question out here in hope for a serious answer.
Name one QB that has been through as much SHIT as Carr and has been Successful?
What’s it like being all alone at this point carrying this torch?
Disagree. Carr has the tools to succeed in the NFL. I have seen it in the first half of the last three seasons.
But when the grind of the season begins to wear on players, some cannot keep up the fight while others never cease to keep swinging - they battle to the very end. Carr looked like a deer in headlights...not just on the field but also on the bench. He sat there feeling sorry for himself....he was not trying to figure out a way to solve the opposing defense...no, he went and sat down feeling bad for himself. It is a look I have seen before and I am tired of his naval gazing.
Winners - no matter what happens, don't quit, are always looking to come back next series and shove it down the throat of the opponent. They do not sit there, doing nothing to prepare for the next series, feeling sorry for himself. My brother is a Viking fan, and he actually emailed me surprised by what he was watching...an NFL player sulking on the bench.
Well I'm not big on "will to win" and other sports tropes. The more likely answer is he's just not that good.

3 games in a row (BAL, PIT, MIA): elite MVP level despite a crappy OL and running game.
2 games in a row (SD, CHI): inept O, nothing works. We blamed the Gruden email distraction.
2 games in a row (DEN, PHI): unbelievable Carr. Short-passing O is slicing and dicing. The team is playing the best it has played in years.
3 games in a row (NYG, KC, CIN): inept O, nothing works again. Is it because of the loss of Ruggs and spacing?
INCONSISTENCY

I get that the organization is a mess, to put it mildly. But to still defend Carr at this point is.....interesting.
Yay, what an amazing accomplishment.
I love these forums, wins are a team stat until the narrative requires it to be an individual stat and then Carr has beaten Mariota 3 straight times

Carr has had to endure a lot more than the average QB.
Raider fans have also had to endure a lot more than your average fan base.
I really don't care what Carr's excuse is. It's getting old watching the same thing year in and year out. It's 8 years of Carr and dysfunction. It's time to move on. Clean house, start new. No one in the building is worth defending any more.

Carr's play has always been decent, respectable. I guess he ranks somewhere in the range of 15-20 among starting NFL QB's. So, the team could do better or worse with a different QB.
Following Carr's third season it was fine that the Raiders decided to make a commitment to him, including the big dollar long term contract he received. But now five years have passed since that 2016 decision and the team's won/loss record has not been good, so it makes sense to start considering other options at the QB position. Maybe for the balance of this season have Carr start some games , Mariota start other games, and see what happens.

I find it very hard to throw stones at a QB who has had 5 head coaches and been through so much dysfunction!
There has been 0 - QB's that have had 5 head coaches and been SUCCESSFUL! That's the answer!

You could also look at it as Carr getting 5 coaches fired.
Well Gruden hung himself. But it was heading down that road.
