JPJ appears to be one of those talented, moody players. He needs the staff to just believe in him and let him play. That's when he rewards you will All-Pro level ability.
Huh. I have never heard this sort of take before about a player who seems to be overpowered at the LOS -- if they handle him right, he will be all-Pro? You see talent in the guy that I do not.

One things for sure, he's in a battle for the RG position not because he has convinced the coaches.

Just another bad take. Powers Johnson has never ever given all pro level play. Not even close.

There is something strange seeming with JPJ. It started around the time Carroll moved him off Center completely with no explanation except vague bland sports speak.
People weren't sure if it was a personality conflict or PC just didn't think he was smart enough there yet. Lots of articles that talked about it and shed no light, just speculation from outside.
And theres the multiple concussions. Reasonable worry that even one more could mean he should retire. And maybe those had an affect on his brain, enough to be noticeable (pure unfounded speculation here).
Beyond the concussions other injuries too.
I dont think this is the reason between great and terrible, JPJ might just be average in the pros regardless, but I do think there might be something to the right coaching and approach needed more for him than your average player.

Yeah, I think the physical ability is there but for whatever he has not met expectations...who knows?

It's been a bit bumpy, he missed a good part of rookie TC and the first two games.
He was injured 1/2 of last year.
He's started 21 of a possible 34 games.
Yes there was the whole C/G thing which getting Lind totally squashed that. Otherwise we might still be there.

The only reason he was playing center in the first place was because James was out. He was LG to start. This is the 3rd staff that has had him at guard and the second one that apparently hasn't been very impressed with him

I dont know why tbey continue to draft offensive linemen and move them to another position.
Draft a RG and play him at RG.
Draft a LG and play him at LG.
It not hard to understand but im just a Monday morning HC.
They got gaurds playing center and centers playing gaurd. Shit they have LT playing center (Zuhn).
They draft LTs play RT.
Wonder why the oline is a f[raiders_icon]ck shop?
Sure it works sometimes and there's evidence for that. Im not disputing it.
Just seems it hasn't worked for us.
Leatherwood was a LT. In college and im sure in HS. Men of that size play LT in HS.
We played him 100% at RT and when he went to the Bears they also played him 100% at RT.
I will always wonder "if" he would've worked out at his natural position. LT
When he was drafted the Raiders had just extended Miller so LT at 20?
Like why

Thornton Jr has missed 4 days of traing camp. One preseason game and yesterday he was on the sidelines in shorts working with trainers making it 5 days of TC.
I dont think Kubiak will put up with this and I see him as an ir candidate.
Its probably why they signed WR Noah Brown having to use more cap. Jeez

I don’t think they do that any longer. They just have to have their final 53 by Aug 30

General audience response but this is what we do, we put focus on the current admin from things a past admin did.
It doesn't matter what some other admin did at this point.
You use "They" as we've been a consistent staff for like a decade, we've been the opposite of that.
Another I see is weighing if we should draft a position because we've failed at it so many times. Again different admins, but you can't do that and you need to use league wide trends here not past team/staff trends.
It's hard to blame the current staff when they didn't draft said player and are just trying to find the best overall combination for their line.
I did a check on this 40% of OL end up playing a different position than what they played in college. I'm still not sure I'm buying that, but that is what was stated, actually 40 to 50%. Stated often a team has their starting LT but still want to draft the best tackle and they end up being moved to RT. That's exactly what happened with Leatherwood.
He also went to the Chargers and Bears, they tried to use him as depth as a swing linemen, I have to assume others beat him out as he was soon gone.
One that's early to state but Washington looked great Thursday, everyone is happy. We'll have a great combo and all of that. If that ends up being true that is why you don't draft a RB at 6. We got Washington at 122. Hole creation is first and foremost to a successful RB, while he showed moves and speed, the big run was well blocked. The top RB's in college all have skills if holes are there. That said I'm not mad or anything Jeanty should be great. But you use league-wide trends. The next 5 picks after Jeanty were two OL's, one DE, one WR and one TE.

Players generally cant go from G/C to tackle but the oppositie is done a lot. Id say its much more about identifying the right players and developing. Kubiak just won the superbowl taking an undrafted FA tackle and making him the starting center.
