Carr had 16 turnovers to 11 TD over the final 7 games of the season.
The defense only allowed 19.1 ppg over those same 7 games, a stat that would be top 5 in the NFL if it lasted all year.
Carr put up a sub 70 passer rating in his playoff debut.
Tell me again how Derek was carried to the playoffs. Impressive.
It is clear to me that there are several facts,
a) Carr did not carry the team to the playoffs. As your stats demonstrate, the offense was actually a below average unit down the stretch.
b) Throughout the season the O was a BELOW average scoring unit. (18th)
c) While the D did play much better down the stretch, when looking back at the entire season they were a below average unit when it came to preventing opposing teams from putting up points.
d) if the Raiders are going to do anything in an improved AFC West in 2022; the Raiders better improve on both sides of the ball.
Any narrative blaming one side of the ball or the other for any failures last year is simply not taking in the entire picture. BOTH sides of the ball share in the blame.
Fact is, the Raiders were lucky to get into the playoffs last year; not many teams that possess BOTH a below average O and D in scoring are still able to make the playoffs. The discussion should not be so much about who to blame for the playoff loss as to how in the hell did they even manage to get into the playoffs.
Make no mistake about it, the coaching staff has A LOT of work to do in order to get this team ready to make a run at the playoffs. And it won't likely happen unless we see improvement.....and improvement from Carr is needed if the team is going to get to the next level.
Not sure why people want to make certain that he does not get any criticism. BUT Carr better know, that he needs to bring his game to another level IF the O is to improve. He has NOT played well down the stretch the last two years and well, down the stretch is exactly when games begin to matter more.
That is not to say the D must not also improve. Of course it must. EVERY f[raiders_icon]cking aspect of this team needs to improve and anyone thinking differently must have low expectations or standards for their team.
I want the Raiders to become that team that is dedicated to excellence again. Not that team that points a finger at the other side of the f[raiders_icon]cking ball blaming them for the loss.
A voice of intelligence ! Thank you ! No quarterback wins with the worst defense in football , not Mahomes , not Rodgers , not Brady but Carr is suppose too !
Not sure how he has done since this fact, Carr is above average, hell #65 in the top 100 for the '21 season and I am happy to see it.
You don't need to start making stuff up however, Carr was a below average (Tier 4) QB ranked by coaches and execs for the large majority of the last 5 seasons. Ranked 15-21 for every season since '16 - besides '2021.
Those rankings are not win/loss based, that is based on his performance. Coaches and execs don't like QBs who 4th and game it... twice.
Again, only 2 players have turned over the ball more than Derek since '18. Brady, Rodgers, and Mahommes have come nowhere close to his turnover numbers. The defense is not on the field when he throws interceptions or fumbles.
All that said I hope he pulls head from ass and I do like his current contract and I love the direction the team is heading. The defense
has sucked but it gets half of the resources the offense does, so there is a reason for that. Oh, and welcome back Skullz.
a great QB? Above average I can get to with some work, but great?
I suspect Skullz is back lol
Suspect? It’s fairly obvious.

So far the “Top 100” as voted on by the players has voted on just a handful of QBs.
99: Kirk Cousins
85: Mac Jones
65: Derek Carr
61: Russell Wilson
57: Kyler Murray
Lets look at the W/L record of rookie quarterbacks who played on a team with the worst defense in the NFL. This is since 2000.
2009 : Matt Stafford = 2-8 ( team was 2-14)
2010 : Tim Tebow = 1-2 (team was 4-12)
2012 : Jake Locker = 4-7 ( team was 6-10 )
2014 : Derek Carr = 3-13
2017 : Deshawn Watson = 3-3 (team was 4-12)
2021 : Zach Wilson = 3-10 ( team was 4-13)
Don't let your Carr bias get in the way of facts.
As a side note , only 1 quarterback had a winning record with a last place defense since 2000. And that was HOF quarterback Kurt Warner in 2000 who went 8-3 ( team was 10-6 )
In addition , the other 2 HOF quarterbacks on this list of worst defenses , Peyton Manning in 2001 and Drew Brees in 2015 went 6-10 and 7-8 respectfully.
But Carr has to be better than all HOF quarterbacks to be even considered good. LMAO !!!
Derek Carr has the worst record among starting QBs when the defense holds the opponents offense to fewer than 20 points. Most QBs hover around .800 (even guys like Trubisky) while Carr is ~.600 when the defense holds the other team. Maybe if the defense was better we would win more games, but even when you isolate the instances where the defense plays well, for every 10 games the defense plays well, Carr historically only wins 6, which is 2 fewer than the average.
None of this considers that the offense in the same span has been among the worst in time of possession and Red Zone, as well as being mediocre (at best) in TOs, which makes the defenses job harder. That’s not all on Carr, but the performance of the offense affects the performance of the defense and vice versa. In 2006 (which is being discussed for some reason?), our defense looked “good” because other teams stopped trying once they were up by a score.
TLDR: Carr’s record is mediocre even when the defense plays great, and the offense’s mediocrity contributes to the defense’s ineptitude.

Carr has gotten to the top 15 QB rankings more by attrition than anything else IMO.
Lol what investment? A revolving door at wr/oc isn’t going to help a qb.
follow the dollars sir, they tell you everything. After that, follow the numbers and rankings of the free agents we sign. Finally, you follow the draft picks, because that is where you have a trickle down effect.
Yes because any rookie would have a winning record on the 2014 Raiders.
but how would a rookie have done in 2017? My guess is better than we did standing pat. Anyone can play this game.

Hell, even Carr knows what the problem is.
“I’ve just got to be better for us. . . . Starts with me and ends with me. We’re out out of sync and not good enough on third down and red zone and it’s my fault,” Carr said, via Anthony Galaviz of the Fresno Bee.”
The day can't come soon enough when Carr can stuff the Lombardi up these critical losers ass. Give Carr a top 15 defense like Stafford had and Carr will do the same. But it won't matter , these clowns will give the credit to the coaches or Carr's new wide receivers.
Oooo, smells like a meltdown. Hold her together now.
Having said that, I do believe it’s possible Carr can be carried to the Super Bowl. He just isn’t good enough to actually do the carrying himself. He is a mediocre to good QB…..just certainly not great or elite.
On another note….if your word “clowns” was in all caps, I would almost mistake you as a Fly mult
