Such a bullshit reason though.

Doesn't EVERY QB start getting flustered when the O-line breaks down and they start getting pounded into the ground constantly? Has any QB ever gotten BETTER after getting hit a bunch of times?
Did I say that QBs get better when they get hit? Good grief, try using some reading comprehension. I know after watching Carr for the last 8 years, you might not realize it, but there are some QBs that don't fold like a cheap shirt. Try watching some other games.

But of course every QB in the league throws it away on 4th down.

And Carr has rarely been constantly been "pounded into the ground" as you said. If he gets hit, he can get rattled. When Wilson gets hit, he still throws TDs and stands in there. Same with most all the guys on the list of the top producing QBs. I believe there was a certain Bengals QB who got blasted weekly and still went to the dance unrattled.

Derek has flaws in his game like every QB but his biggest in my opinion is that he does not respond well to getting knocked around. It is not a crime to point out this flaw in his game. That is what this thread is supposed to do as well as point out his positives. Relax, we will find out soon enough if the new braintrust can help smooth out his flaws and max out his positives.

At no time have I ever encountered stuff where some are so caught up with the hero worship that they are unable to accept any criticism of the player. It is really odd the way some people need to defend him no matter the evidence.

That said, like you, I am hoping the new coaching staff can take Carr to the next level.

I say that Gretzky parked his ass near the net and waited on passes for half of his career and hockey fans say, "yea, that was Gretzky's office." Flaws are part of the game, maybe the one guy I can think of who did not have a "flaw" in his game was Ty Cobb and that unspeakable bastard never even sniffed a ring inthe World Series. I don't mind guys who are flawed, heck I expect them. Pointing out the flaws is just conversation. I am not the guy running around saying Carr is shit. I point out the flaws, and I will continue until that pass to end the game is a touchdown instead of an interception.

This franchise is STARVED. The Raiders are a proud franchise with dedicated fans, but we have been deprived of success for a long time. QB is the most important position, and if we already have a good QB on the roster it makes our task of building a winner much easier. Carr fans are emotionally invested in Carr being that guy because it makes the idea of greatness tangible. It's important for this narrative to frame it as he is a good player held back by dysfunction because it makes it easier to imagine a viable path to success.

Criticisms of Carr are thorny for this crowd because it disturbs the Koolaid and we Raider fans are desperate for some good news-- it's worsened by the notion that if Carr isn't the guy, we will have to go back to the unknown. Given how bad the 'unknown' was for us last time I can understand the anxiety. I, too, do not want to go back to the days of Jamarcus and Aaron Brooks -- but it's a false anxiety, because we don't exist in a reality where Carr vs Terrible QB are the only two options. Ending up with a dud is a possibility; but if Carr can't take his game to that next level, it's a risk worth taking. Until he elevates his game, Carr will lead us to mediocrity. In my mind, the certainty of mediocrity outweighs the risk of taking a huge step back. Carr has to show he can do better than mediocre, or staying with him will be slow, albeit painless, poison

so it bears the question, and we have been asking it since the disaster of 2017...is this his make it or break it year? His contract says yes, and the new weapon he has suggests a balls to the walls approach which also implies yes. If he replicates last year is that good enough?

Me personally, I know a lot of the old time fans are getting to that edgy "running out of time" feeling of never reliving the glory days. I for one still have some tread on the tires but I am far nearer the finish line that the starting line. So for me, replicating is not in the cards, the offense as a whole has to improve on a sharp incline. That has to start with the guy who has the ball in his hand. Yes the defense has to do its part but if we are going to be using a lot more short passing that keeps the defense off the field. McDaniels has to figure out how to win the TOP game so our offense is setting the tempo and not putting the defense out there longer. Frankly, back to my previous point, I know a few of guys who are not going to be around if this does not work in the next couple years.

I remember when the Cubs won it all there was this story about a guy who was on his death bed and his son was with him as the fireworks went into the sky. He was not sure if his dad heard the announcers celebrate the final out. It was a terribly poignant moment for me. I certainly want to see us win one more, but I want it more for our guys who are rounding third base.
How many QBs actually lose the ball just before actual contact in self preservation mode? SMDH
It reminds me of the movie up in smoke. The early scene when Chong jumps around but farts at the same time bc he was startled by Cheechs cousin, the Vietnam vet who had some herb for them. He was so nervous bc in the scene right before they got pulled over by the cops and he had to eat the all the pills he was carrying.

But David has a ring!

What is it with these Carr defenders thinking that they know better than what actual NFL coaches do in regards to Carr's flaws?

Yeah, no QB like getting hit. See Brady or even Payton Manning. They both hit the dirt quick on broken plays.

But Carr has tendencies that the rest of the league sees. ....but nah...it's all bullshit.
