Kirk Cousins
I have rarely seen a QB do more with less. Kubiak has made it clear that he is the guy this year but his play has really defied conventional wisdom. The run blocking is as putrid as it was last season. The pass blocking has been getting compliments but how much as that has to do with Cousins's pocket presence and pre snap reads?
I am not sure the subject deserves its own thread but I think what he has accomplished this season cannot be overstated and he has essentially put the offense on his back. I don't think anyone saw this coming.
Thoughts?...

Friend or not, I want what’s best for the Raiders.
And if any team wants him they better be prepared to pay through the nose. If they don’t like it? Tough shit. For decades (especially when the Old Man wasn’t with it) we either screwed ourselves in trades or got hosed, looking at you Ravens.
A message needs to be sent out to the league that yes we’ll do business with a team but no longer being pushed around for it. And if it’s the Ravens, I want it notarized, looked over by lawyers, the NFL, the NFL lawyers and a damn judge to rule it’s binding on the part of the Ravens before I even consider a trade.
And to repeat what I said earlier? “screw the Ravens and send the horse they rode in on to the glue factory.” And while we’re at it give their GM a wedgie and a swirly for good measure?
Why. Just because.
All that being said? I’d be surprised if we trade Cousins. Cousins being here isn’t about winning games per se. It’s to set a foundation, to provide leadership and stability to the franchise at QB. It’s to mentor and show Mendoza how to go about his career and be a professional.
If we get/got wins along the way? I’m guessing the franchise would consider that gravy but doubt it was an expectation if for no other reason then the schedule.

Zero motivation? He is gone at the end of the season with no compensation. I don't think they will trade him unless he wants out. I full exoect him to start until the bye. But we are not getting a haul for a 38 year old QB for half a seasonOpoponax50 wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 8:11 am A 3rd is nowhere close enough. For the first time in over two decades, this team is in the driver's seat when it comes to a big trade. We have zero motivation to trade Cousins away, so if someone wants him, they're going to have to pony the f*** up.
Nothing less than a first, and since Minnesota's first rounder is likely to be in the mid to late twenties, we should get a third as well.
Things are on track for us--better than we had any right to expect. Trading that for a low 3rd round pick would be terrible for team morale and our record.

Case in point? Indy last year trading for Sauce Gardner. All it takes is a team desperate enough to think their chances are slipping away or he might put them over the hump.

Gardner was a 24 year old who was considered the best at his position at the time. Big difference. I know teams get desperate thats why I think we might get a 3rdWillmark wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 8:38 am It depends.

KK is not going to douche Kirk and I think its important to have a coach who does not screw players going forward. To save face, I doubt a trade gets done until the last minute (if it happens at all). We all know we are playing for nothing, but we are still technically in the hunt. After we get our asses handed to us this weekend, I would not be shocked if there was not at least a conversation. If Kurt wants out, KK will get it done. I really do not think compensation will be an issue or prevent a trade for happening if Kurt wants one last hurrah. Any compensation we receive is better than what anyone anticipated. It is like the adage pigs get fed, hogs get slaughtered.

If we go by record alone we are right in the middle of the league, so from 32 to 16'ish.Steve007 wrote: Mon Nov 02, 2026 2:26 pm Yes we beat bad teams and lose to good teams, but we also have a lot of tough teams on the schedule.
I’m a little frustrated that we just played KC, New England, Buffalo and the Rams, we get one easier game on the road on the other side of the country, and now we face SF, Seattle and Denver. And even after that we get an “easier” game against the Browns who are 5-3.
To me I feel we're 20 something. Still a bit of fools gold it seems.
Just seems the quickest fix is more aggressive on D and hope we improve our blocking as we go.
I think our top-end this year is about middle of the pack, which is on-schedule.

If the coach stated to Cousins, "The Vikings want you for a playoff run". "Are you interested?"
If yes, make it happen, if not stay the course.
I'd like a nice pick and see Kirk go to the playoffs and kick ass.

Yeah, a 3rd would be desperation for an old guy with only a handful of games left. If he wants to be moved I'd be more than happy with a 3rd.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 8:52 am Gardner was a 24 year old who was considered the best at his position at the time. Far worse trades have been made. The Vikings are the only team that fits the bill. They need a competent QB, not a superstar for them to go deep in the playoffs and maybe to the Super Bowl. Their window is now.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 8:29 am Zero motivation? He is gone at the end of the season with no compensation. I don't think they will trade him unless he wants out. Our goal, OTOH, is to win games and change the culture. Cousins has been a big part of that.
I'd tell Minne to give us a first rounder today. If you take until tomorrow, then we'll want a first and a third. If you wait until the last day, it becomes a first and a second.
If that sounds ridiculous, it's because it is. But IMO, trading Cousins would be ridiculous unless the other team needs help finding a trauma therapist by the time the deal is done.

Oh I agree thats ridiculous. And it will never happen. Might as well ask for their entire draft for the next decade. The odds are just the same.
If a team ever called and made a demand like that they would never make a deal again. Once they stopped laughing. The price goes up every day?

Simultaneous wedgies and swirlies. Life doesnt get any rougher than that. If its Minn how about their 1st for our 2nd+KC?

QB operates like no other position in all of sports. There isn’t even 32 good starters to go around as is. As such the rules for other positions don’t really apply to QB.FLORIDARAYDAH wrote: Tue Nov 03, 2026 8:52 am Gardner was a 24 year old who was considered the best at his position at the time. Sauce could be the second coming of Deion; it doesn’t matter, he’s not a QB.
A team desperate enough or believing they are in the cusp and feels they “need just one more piece” for a playoff push might attempt to trade for him. Again so it’s not misconstrued, I used Gardner as an example of equivalency but as an example of a team acting for perceived need prior to the trade deadline.
