Our Defense
If we're really gonna run a 3-4 then these depth charts should show it. Our line should consist of Hemingway, Laula, and Fatukasi with Crosby and Paye as our OLBs. Crosby played linebacker in high school. The position is not entirely strange to him.

Contact powskiI love how Masses attacks in pass coverage as much as he defends, but with control. Hes quick twitch aggressive going after it too. Former WR and plays like he has a chip on his shoulder about being asked to convert to less glamorous position.

I don't believe he was. Saw him on the sideline celebrating with someone but I don't think he had one snap.Rabidraider wrote: Mon Sep 28, 2026 6:03 am Was McCoy out there yesterday? I didn't see him or hear mention of him all game.

Shout how to Leonard and the defense yesterday for sure. For three quarters I complained about them, saying they didn't seem to be playing with that same aggression and confidence. Then pretty much accepted, we just didn't have it yesterday.
What a takeover in the 4th to win. Not sure I have ever seen our defense do something like that. Even on the Hemingway INT that was taken away, they didn't let it phase them and just 2 plays later cause another fumble. The takeaways truly are contagious for them.

Agree on everything. In previous years after the takeaway that wasn’t we would just let the other team march down and score almost uncontested.JRaider17 wrote: Mon Sep 28, 2026 6:53 am Shout how to Leonard and the defense yesterday for sure. I think the question marks on his size have a little to do with it aswellpowski wrote: Mon Sep 28, 2026 6:06 am I love how Masses attacks in pass coverage as much as he defends, but with control. The scouting had him as an A+ on talent but a D on size if he was bigger he’d have been easily a Day 2 guy at worst
These are exactly the type pf gambles i love us taking in those rounds, Masses was my favourite pick & the guy i was most intrigued with because he had the traits that suggest he could have an impact.

Masses and Porter are playing incredible football so Mccoy isn't likely to play much right now

That a great problem to have being able to give a guy time is a luxury i cant remember us having, if it helps McCoy get to where he has the talent to get to then i’m all for it same goes with MendozaDanKD wrote: Mon Sep 28, 2026 11:39 pm Masses and Porter are playing incredible football so Mccoy isn't likely to play much right now

I thought the D took didn't look as strong (especially considering NO had a back up LT). The Saints are clearly for real and their hurry up/no huddle is going to give teams fits this season. I will say that Leonard clearly made some adjustments in the 2nd half. Its still early to make any kind of real declaration of how good we really are (but MUCH improved considering the bar was very low).
