What’s Cookin' on Gameday 2025
In the vein of what's cooking with Scotman and Attyla.
As in years past, the 2025 What’s Cookin for Gameday thread. Post each week what you’re having on Gameday, drinks, appetizers etc,
Last year’s turned up some good stuff, so keep these in mind:
* Each week post what you are having for food, aka main dish.
* Appetizers?
* Desert?
* Each week what are you drinking?
* Include what you're having if you're tailgating.
* If you are ordering, what are you ordering?
* Brunch, you name it.

Well done Doc.Dr Death wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 12:54 pm So.... golf course hot dogs were good as usual. I shot 76. So far it's been a good day. Ready to be let down by the Raiders, unfortunately.

My turn this week and I’m making Southwest Breakfast Bake in the crockpot. It’ just like it sounds: eggs, sausage, onions, chilies, hash browns, etc
Drinks: Mrs Willmark is having wine, I’m going lighter today with Shark Attacks in light of the unusually warm weather we’re having right now. Vodka, lemonade and grenadine.
Recipe
hash browns
12 eggs
cheddar cheese
sour cream
milk
sausage (we use turkey)
bacon (beef bacon)
chilies
onions, red and green peppers
sauteed onions
salt
pepper
Either go 2-3 hours on high or 8(ish) on low.
Lots of variations you can do with this to suit your needs. Usually I throw these in the crockpot and head out hunting. Two issues with that today.
1. Really really warm today, might hit mid 80s; Tuesday its down to 50s.
2. Knee is bothering me, its not in good enough shape to be out and about.

as stated, chicken fried rice, simple but the sauce that goes into it is not just one or two sauces, the combination includes 5 or so. The secret is to cook the rice the day before and put it in the fridge to remove the moisture. The rice texture is key to making it just right. Add in peas and carrots, one egg and some onion.

I recently found my late grandfathers old homemade ice cream machine. It’s electric, not the hand crank, but definitely something he bought in the 60s/70s.
It’s obnoxiously loud and takes quite a while, but pure nostalgia for me. Spent a couple weeks each summer as a child at his farm in Durango, CO, and we would crank that machine up every other night. My now 4-year old son gets a kick out of doing the same.
Peach homemade ice cream is on the agenda for today.

Chicken fajitas with red and yellow peppers and onions (I don't care for green bell peppers), avocado (not guac) and corn tortillas. In the interest of not overdosing on carbs no rice or beans.
Tequila anejo and Pacifico.

Getting ready for church right now but I haven’t even thought about what I’m doing for food today. Maybe it’s one of those breakfast burrito type of day or B4D days.

They are loud for sure. But I have great memories of making blueberry ice cream in one. Rock salt and crushed ice grinding in the machine, and that satisfying smell of vanilla once it is done and the lid comes off.DrDUne wrote: Sun Oct 05, 2025 6:44 am I recently found my late grandfathers old homemade ice cream machine. Good stuff sir, thanks for the walk down memory lane. The other thing we did was pulling taffy. Huge hook mounted to the wall and smearing butter on my hands as I pulled and hooked the taffy repeatedly. I am actually not a fan of taffy but that stuff was worth the work, I only got to pull it a few times when we were making it, mostly the adults but it was still fun.
