And they may have done just that, nobody knows. But that would not have been Carroll because he did not coach to lose. Personally, I doubt it happened at all, again I just think we were that bad and got some help because we did win that last game.Raiderman4 wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 2:50 pm I think we should just be honest with him. The guy is our best defensive player to say the least. He was playing injured. He had surgery to fix his injury. So what if they sat him down to protect his value to the team when we knew we were going nowhere. We could only let him play just because he wanted to for so long. He is a team asset and they have the right to protect their assets. Tanking is another subject. So what if it helps the tank, it's still a perfectly legit move. He was being unreasonable. Seems as simple as that to me.

Plus, we also shut down Brock Bowers, but nobody really made a big stink about that.Raider_Len wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 3:50 pm The guy is our best defensive player to say the least. Bowers lacks the “Mamba” mentality (aka narcissism) that allows you to believe that everyone in the world is doing its best to stop you from being a hero.raidersince63 wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 5:11 pm Plus, we also shut down Brock Bowers, but nobody really made a big stink about that.

The literal definition of tanking, and if that would have gotten out you could kiss that #1 pick goodbye.Raiderman4 wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 2:50 pm I think we should just be honest with him. And it would have. Maxx would have thrown that info onto Instagram as soon as he left the building and got to his car.NewEraX25 wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 5:57 pm The literal definition of tanking, and if that would have gotten out you could kiss that #1 pick goodbye.

Sounds great in theory, but it wont work on a petulant 2-year-old.Raiderman4 wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 1:23 pm I honestly don’t understand why this is even an issue.
How hard is it for someone in the organization to sit Maxx down and just be real with him? Like:
“Look, we had to sit you. Not because we don’t value you, but because winning a couple meaningless games at the end of a lost season would’ve screwed us again. We finally did the responsible thing for once and said, ‘No, we’re not going to win pointless games and destroy our draft position.’ And honestly, we still almost messed it up — thank God for the Giants.
And we didn’t just do this for the team… we did it for YOU too. Maxx, you deserve a real quarterback. You deserve to play for something bigger than 6 wins every year.
Because if we played you and accidentally won those last two games, and it cost us the #1 pick, what the hell were we supposed to do at QB? Run it back with another washed-up veteran for the fourth year in a row? Is that really what you want?”
I just don’t understand how you don’t see that we’re literally trying to make this better — not just for the Raiders, but for you. You claim to love this organization, and this was the best move for the organization long-term.
And yeah, I get it if you’re tired of rebuilding for the millionth time. But this rebuild needed to happen whether you got benched or not. Sitting you those last few games wasn’t some personal attack — it was just reality.
We would be in a WORSE position right now if we didn’t bench you. And we’re sick of watching you go out there in late December when the season has been over for weeks.
We need a quarterback. That’s the whole point. And we’re finally in a position to be able to do something about it!

Or maybe "45 Days of the Condor".raiderboyron wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 1:32 pm It's all for his upcoming book. "As the Condor Turns". Chapters by years. 2025 is the benching chapter and 2026 the trade rumor chapter. It all fits now!

People tend not to get this. The league would bitch slap us hard if we came out and blatantly tanked. Hell, when we shut down Maxx and Bowers within days of each other, then shut down Geno, fans across the league started shouting. I was afraid that noise was going to empower the league to dig in and see if we were actually tanking. Fortunately, it died down a bit. But if we went up to a player and said "help us tank" we most certainly would have lost that pick, and probably others and the fine would have taken Doofus's PF Chang budget away from him.NewEraX25 wrote: Fri Feb 13, 2026 5:57 pm The literal definition of tanking, and if that would have gotten out you could kiss that #1 pick goodbye.

If trading Maxx can possibly get us 2 or 3 players to make us better then i’m all for it
I think a 1st, 2nd + a player gets it done for me then maybe we can go & use that pick to draft a game changer like Ioane or Styles
I don’t think he is worth quite as much as Micah due to him have like 3 years on him but he is still worth some good capital
On another note I do think we have a couple of potential breakout stars in Tonka Hemingway & Darian Porter as both flashed a lot of potential when given the chance. We do need playmaker though as i think we have lots of depth type guys on the roster already some starting

Isn't there an old adage in sports that sometimes others have to step in to save a player from himself?
