Im going to give Carr the benefit of the doubt this season. Maybe he will turn the corner. If he doesnt though Ill be back to wanting him replaced immediately. I figure were stuck with him again for at least this season, so may as well hope he does well.
This is where I’m at, we have to go with him got this season so let’s see what happens. I have my doubts but maybe by some miracle with everything we’ve invested around him he’ll rise to the occasion. I’m not counting on it but maybe it happens.

It is simple for Carr with this new contract it says we like you but we ain’t locking ourself into you being the guy

I like it if he can replicate his early season form in the late season then fine but we’ve had 3 years of him disappearing when it really mattered

This really is his prove it season they have traded for his best buddy, put a ton of weapons round him, made OL moves & made moves on the D as far as i’m concerned it play or part ways for him

Presumably we’ll have drafted Carr’s replacement & we’ll have the cap space to build a team around him

I wish him luck on getting out of his contract if so...

Also if we are replacing Carr, he likely suddenly fell out of being a top receiver and our new guy might have some promise.

I would definitely not say it is black and white

Fortunately, I definitely do not think this happens - but looking at contracts (120 million or so on 7 players in '23 if we keep Renfrow and Waller), replacing Carr suddenly makes a much larger impact.

He better earn his keep, all I am saying.

At no point since the second game of the 2017 season has anyone been able to say that Carr is the type of QB who can take over a game. He gets shut down for significant periods during most games, which is why we see so few double digit wins. Our wins are most often skin of the teeth games due to a crucial fumble, pick, or failure to take advantage of red zone opportunities.

This is year 9, so yeah, we'll see.

He's on the back portion of his career and he came to the Raiders just to play with his dude before he retires and he's made plenty of money and already won the big one. The fact that you think he entered into any kind of deal can't get out of is hilarious. So yeah, Carr goes...so does Adams plus Waller will be over 30 so he's gone. That's 3 of 5 starting skill players and we'd still by RBBC in the backfield.

I think he felt slighted in GB and probably wanted a change of scenery anyways. Since Carr was here already it was perfect for him.

It doesnt matter what we do with Carr because Adams is his own man & wont retire because his buddy retires

The fact you think that keeping our offence together depends on retaining Carr is a little laughable

We have a better chance of doing that with a qb on a rookie deal.

Equally laughable is the thought that you think Adams wont find a way out of LV after his friend and half the offense leaves during a rebuild. Like you really think he came here to play during a rebuild...ok...gotcha. Them being friends is perfectly ok for why one of the most valuable WR's in the league would come here but no, no, no, not the reason for him leaving. You guys that want to move on make so little of them being friends...but that's ok...none of really know anything about anything but we'll get to see what happens.

Eh. This whole "all in" thing this year seems a little farfetched. We're not at a Buffalo, KC, Cinci, Rams, etc. level.

I can't imagine Carr doing what Allen, Mahomes, Stafford, or Brady did in the playoffs. With the exception of SF and their monstrous defense, every team that had a legit shot to win the Super Bowl had QBs that were great during the regular season who then elevated their play in the postseason against the best teams in the league.

Our best hope for going deep is going to be our new DC, who is likely here for one year before getting hired as a HC somewhere else.

Our window is small and short.
