Here's more about what Mcdaniels said about Carr in case you didn't watch his pressers last week. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... rt-player/
So far in the offseason program, McDaniels said he’s enjoyed working with Carr “in every way.”
“He’s a great human being and he’s a really smart football player — and you don’t have to say it five times for him to get it,” McDaniels said in his press conference last week. “There’s a natural way he learns that’s pretty easy as a coach. And he’s a great leader. So his teammates follow him. He’s a competitive guy. He wants to do it the way you want it done, which I love that about him. He knows that I’ll give him some grey, but he doesn’t want the grey. He wants [it to be], ‘Hey, tell me exactly how you want it done. I’m gonna try to do it that way.’
“So, just a great process. Really excited about the time I’ve gotten to spend with him so far. And looking forward to developing that relationship more and more as we go. Very coachable guy, sets the bar high. He’s here early, stays late, does everything you can ask of him.”
Looks like he is happy to have Carr.

I hope not, but that is up to Carr. I am glad he likes him, I am glad they are competent, but most importantly I am glad they locked him into what is essentially a prove it deal for him every year he is here.
If he tries to 4th and game it on McDaniels watch, I suspect we find out why those contracts were written like that.

“Silver Minings: Josh McDaniels has high praise for Chase Garbers.” Garbers making waves at OTA’s
I had to put “Raiders” in the search bar to find this.
It took all of 2 seconds.
So you know…
THIS JUST IN!!!
New Coach says nice things about players on team.

Carr will make it happen on the field or he won't. If he does, then he'll have earned the big contract. If he doesn't, he'll be outta here and if he's true to his word, playing golf this time next year. I just recently took up the game again, so hopefully I'll see him out there.
That shit came back to bite Bosa in the ass.
Carr did ok in both games this season. The game Carr was crumpling in happened though, so it does not change much.
Game 1 against the Chargers
4 sacks, but an 85 passer rating on 62% completions and 2 TDs to 1 interception. Not sure on the fumble count.
Game 2 against the Chargers
3 sacks but an 88.5 passer rating on 55% completions and 2 TDs with no interceptions. Not sure on the fumble count.
Carr had a good year on many points, these 3 and 4 sack games showed a lot and in a good way. Have to love contract years, it changed his game as expected. Thankfully his next 4 are basically contract years also.

Maybe I spoke too soon.
His 85ish passer ratings in those games are equivalent to Daniel Jones and Tyler Heineke's passer ratings on the year.
So he definitely did not 'teach them a lesson'. He showed them that they can make him play like a bottom 10 QB - we lost the first one and barely won the second...

I suspect Josh and Carr will get along just fine during the offseason. Carr, appears to me, as someone that would go out of his way to have people like him and well, that would definitely include the new Head Coach.
While wearing that red jersey, Carr is a focused player who is probably impressing Josh.....possibly quite a bit.
But when Carr changes the jersey and wears the silver and black, I do wonder if that relationship will also change.
I will say this, if I begin to respect Carr's fortitude and williness to scramble, run and/or complete a pass while a play breaks down with pressure coming and do it with courage wanting to rip the opponent a new one...Josh will become of one of my favorite Raider HCs. IF he can pull that miracle off.....damn, the Raiders will have them one good HC....or at least a very, very good QB guru.

He's just not that kind of player and never has been. He's good enough to do well with enough around him to go deep. I think we would've gone deep in 2016. OTOH we haven't seen that Carr since that year. Whatever the case, he's not a throw on the run type of player. It's frustrating because he can be, but it's just not a regular/reliable part of his game.

Im going to give Carr the benefit of the doubt this season. Maybe he will turn the corner. If he doesnt though Ill be back to wanting him replaced immediately. I figure were stuck with him again for at least this season, so may as well hope he does well.

When he's done he's done. You can see it. He reaches a point in the season that he just wants to go home. Maybe his buddy being on the team and a coach who pushes him will suddenly change that. We'll see.
