Matt Eberflus. If you can’t beat them, hire them.
No way. Are you serious? Everyone on this forum already blasts AP over his game management, so why would it be a good idea to hire someone who was just fired for that very thing? Lol. Plus, he has had two 1st round QBs under him, and both have looked uninspiring. That's already enough red flags.
Ben Johnson seems to be the consensus favorite but, he wont coach here. Lol. Don't blame him.
Liam Coen would be an interesting choice. An offensive minded coach who has had success everywhere he has been. Continues to make Baker look like a superstar, even when their team is dealing with injuries on the offensive side of the ball. I also watched him during his 2 years at UK, and UKs offense hasn't looked nearly as good compared to the years he was there as OC. If we want an offensive minded coach to pair up with a young QB etc, he fits the bill.
He turned Al down. Why would he take an offer from the Turnip?
Supposedly, he turned Al down after looking at the offered contract which paid him peanuts and gave Al final say over roster decisions up to and including the gameday Active/Inactive lists.
He wasn't the first guy to turn down working for Al after discovering how little control he'd really have (Sean Payton did the same thing a few years before).
He wouldn't have that problem now.

It never hurts to make an offer and see what happens, I guess.

I’ve seen people mention Lanning and Stark as potential NFL head coaches. But why would you leave right now for the NFL.

Per Rotoworld:
ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson “might have some interest” in the Bears’ head coaching vacancy.
Schefter is playing coy with a connection that has been made for months. The Bears, fresh off firing Matt Eberflus midseason, are in the market for a new head coach. Johnson, in turn, will be the hottest name this hiring cycle. Chicago has No. 1 overall pick Caleb William and an elite cast of pass-catchers on offense plus a dominant defense on the other side of the ball. It’s undoubtedly one of the best head coaching vacancies in recent memory. Johnson pulled out of the head coaching carousel last offseason to stay with the Lions and has the offense firing on all cylinders through three months. Detroit ranks first in points per game and second in yards per game as of Week 12. If Johnson can land the plane with a postseason run, he will have multiple opportunities to lead a team next year.
He turned Al down. Why would he take an offer from the Turnip?
Al has been gone away from here for 13 years.
Just the passage of time alone is a difference.
Also, the Turnip is not Al.
Al liked playing at GM, Al had his predilections on offenses and even play calling, Al was very controlling, Al was mercurial and hair trigger about his staffs.
The past may be prologue but it is not the next chapter
Living in the past (especially iterations of the past that are no longer applicable) and holding weird ass forever grudges gets us nowhere but in circles.
Circumstances, situations, and perceptions change.
Nothing should injure pride as much as perennial losing.so I don't give a tinkerer's damn of he turned us down last year. Keep knocking on the best doors.
