Funny, at CP they have a Tyreek Hill thread going and a poster that goes by "R8DRFAN" said, "We still have money so we should take Hill from you guys. Hill, Renfrow, Adams and Waller...who can stop us?"
Another CP poster replied, "Derek Carr"
I read one from a Bolts site that said, "no one can cover Davante Adams, but there are a million ways to get into Carr's head." Hate when rivals are right...

Carr and his fanboys have been wanting this for a long time. If it falls flat on its face, not sure they will have anywhere to hide. Maybe this year ushers in the burst bubble, where Carr's fanboys begin to finally realize what Carr is and has been.
OR maybe they will be proven right. We shall see. If Carr explodes next season and proves himself an elite QB, I will have no problem admitting I was wrong.
They ALWAYS have somewhere to hide. Guaranteed if he falls flat there will be excuses abound. The first will be he needs 2-3 years to learn JM’s system.
Which is really bad
Are you saying Carr is better?
What i was referring to was Wilson & Mahomes playing well with bad O-Lines because people keep referring to Carr having a bad this or a bad that i could go on & name QB who have as much wrong with there offences as Carr has that have played well
Excuses excuses is all we ever hear, i mean it was the D’s fault for year but when the D turned up our QB dissapeared which is fact
Except Wilson routinely has had a bad second half of a season. Carr is just as good as Wilson. Wilson has routinely had a better overall team than Derek has, especially in the running game and defense.

I think that particular excuse will be more difficult to swallow even for the fanboys.

Josh was OC for Jones and will be OC (well he will be the playcaller - but HC) for Carr. Jones was a rookie QB who did not only have to acclimate to a new system but to an entirely different league...so anyone arguing Carr needs a season or two to acclimate to Josh's system is talking out of their arse.
Get it?
There were something like 6 games in a row in '17 where the offense did not even score a touchdown.
Carr had the same number one receiver. Maybe this post was made in error?
Oh, btw, that offensive coordinator Todd Downing led the 14th ranked Tennessee offense this year. Not calling him great, but he put up more points than our offense this year.
Gonna have to reach further than blaming him for an excuse. Carr wanted Downing and got him - we love to spoil average QBs I guess.
Did you see the Washington game in 2017? Prime time? That's when it all started to unravel.
Trump had just made his statements about kneeling for the anthem, "get that sonuvabitch off the field, he's FIRED" comments that same weekend. I believe the Washington game was either a SNF or MNF game. Teams all around the league had strong reactions, and it seemed to affect the Raiders in a way that affected team chemistry.
That's when Del Rio lost the locker room. There was a divide within the team, and after looking great the first couple of weeks, the Washington game is when the ball was being snapped early on multiple plays, no one seemed to be awake, and the team generally looked completely unrecognizable.
Shit happens. But to think in any way it's on Carr is pretty ridiculous. The TEAM wasn't the same the rest of that 2017 season.
And then 2018 was a year of MASSIVE change - Del Rio fired, Gruden in, Khalil Mack traded, Cooper traded, Crabtree cut. Towards the end of the season, GM Reggie McKenzie fired.
Our WRs in 2018:
88 Marcell Ateman
15 Rico Gafford
17 Dwayne Harris
14 Keon Hatcher
82 Jordy Nelson
10 Seth Roberts
In 2019, Tyrell Williams was signed but was injured plagued for most of the year. Antonio Brown was signed, but never played a down.
The rest of the WR room in 2019:
88 Marcell Ateman
18 Keelan Doss
10 Rico Gafford
12 Zay Jones
13 Hunter Renfrow
In 2020, we finally decided to draft a WR in the first round with Ruggs, and followed that with Edwards in the 3rd round. But Carr's WR1 that year was Nelson Agholor.
In 2021, (last season) Ruggs finally started to emerge. But we all know what happened there.
So you REALLY need to look at what Carr has had to throw to in order to evaluate the QB objectively.

Let’s put it this way.. this is the first year that the raiders have presumably have had a competent front office + coaching staff and has so far compiled together a balanced roster. We can all agree Carr’s future as a raider is dependent on this year squad. Truly no more excuses

Not even trying to debate this anymore really, Carr has to shut up the doubters period!
Carr has given many reasons to doubt, this year he literally has zero excuses.
If Carr can lead the Raiders to the playoffs and to be Super Bowl contenders, that will be awesome!

So you REALLY need to look at what Carr has had to throw to in order to evaluate the QB objectively.
Against the Colts last year, it’s 3rd & 3 in the 1st Q. We’re up 7-0. Carr has a completely clean pocket, and Desean Jackson has a step on his man. No one would argue DJax is the same player he used to be, and if counted as one of Carr’s weapons last year he’s somewhat lackluster. But in that individual play, he was open— doesn’t matter if he’s washed up 70% of the time, on that play he was open.
What happens next? Carr doesn’t transition his weight from back foot to front foot as he delivers his throw, it comes out with too much loft and not enough distance, becomes a 50-50 ball (at best) and turns into an INT. Maybe Devante would prevent the INT— maybe he would even make the catch. But if Carr puts that in stride, the WR probably goes for 6 instead of fighting for the ball. A bad throw is what broke that play, not poor WR play and not poor OL play.
Ask yourself honestly, how many times can you recall Carr throwing floaters when they were unnecessary? I can think of many more examples than just this one (not all of them have led to INTs). Floaters are just one example of an individual Carr problem, and this was just one example of a floater. Carr is also guilty of poor situational awareness, poor pocket management, etc. Pretty much every Carr critic acknowledges the poor surrounding cast— it’s Carr’s individual flaws that make us worry he’d be the same player regardless of surrounding talent. He might be more statistically productive with better talent, but he will be the same core player with the same core weaknesses. At least that’s the fear

Technically, every NFL player is an MVP candidate. Some are more realistic candidates than others.

These are all facts, and are not mutually exclusive.
