Carrs performance against the Bengals surely could have been better. That loss goes to the play calling. 54 pass attempts from Carr! That was f[raiders_icon]cking ridiculous decision making considering our run game and blocking had really improved the last several games. Jacobs only had 13 carries and on those carries he averaged over 6 yards per. WTF do you think is gonna happen when you're throwing 54 passes???
A QB is supposed to throw passes.
He is supposed to complete them also.

He should see the receivers wide open that were called out live no less than four times on national television. One of those was 7 for sure - but he choked. He should have given the team a chance instead of the play to end the game, but he choked.

'Yeah Carr sucked at his job' is not the glowing praise you think it is.

We needed to pass because we were behind. We just needed someone who steps up in big games throwing the ball - not sub 70 passer rating Carr.

Just saying - Carr has always been a loser when it matters. To say otherwise is to deny reality.

Hopefully we can carry him to a SuperBowl win, I don't see it though.

This is the one guy that is chalked as "playing well" s long s it isn't five alarm shit show and if it is such it is always somebody else's baby every single time.

This is probably the least accountable player in history.

A silver spoon guy that requires 24/7 wiping and dangling.

Instead of coddling he needs a foot in the ass, otherwise he would have at developed at least enough foot work to operate under center at minimum.
No.

Carr only threw for 186 yards.
We had 174 yards rushing that game.

Carr game managed that important game. Herbert made some incredible plays but it was not enough -Herbert choked on that one.

Carr barely hit over 50% of his passes though - if he was passing better we would have won handily. I would not say he choked, but man like 55% completions on a 175 yard rushing performance is not far from that.

That is definitely not proof that he is not a choke artist.

* Big games are playoff hunt games - how many hot start years under Carr with us favored (sometimes heavily) to make the playoffs by week 8, only to be followed up by a spiral into losses. 75% of his seasons at this point? That is choking.

Hell, this year we won 4 in a row, but Carr was awful in those 4 against covid decimated teams. He was carried to wins while choking as usual.

You don't get to pick and choose what games matter. The answer is all of them when we get in the playoff hunt.

If you say only the playoff game counts - well choke he did. End of discussion I guess - he is a choker, or did you want to move goal posts yet again?
Nor sure what goal posts have been moved. It was stated he always chokes in big games. There’s been one example given. That’s hardly always choking.

And I never said he was was the reason we beat the Chargers. But that was the biggest game of his career up to that point and he certainly didn’t choke
Bolded followed by 'late game heroics'.

In other words - Carr dug us out the hole he made. That is just choking in quarters one through three, and no chance that counts.
You use “late game heroics” like it’s a pejorative term. To others that’s known as “clutch”, “stepping up”, etc… he didn’t play perfect all game but he certainly played excellent when it mattered most.

It is something he does well - but if you suck ass quarters one through three - you don't get praise for what the kicker did in quarter four.

Your post talking about him throwing two picks but being a 'hero' later - because of the hole he dug - is not the praise you think it is.

Maybe he should have not thrown two picks and just won the game easily? Wild I know, but trust me, interceptions are bad no matter what quarter they are thrown in.

* Does anyone have proof of a 'step up in big games' Derek? I believe the KC win and the first Bears (Post Mack trade) matchups count, but those were just for regular season games and bragging rights- no playoffs on the line for either as they were early in the season.

They’re generally well made points even when I disagree. But to say he basically choked in that game is a huge stretch. If you want to say he was average, ok. But choked?

Carr game managed a pounding run game. Like I said close enough to it for a 'huge game' where we needed a QB to step up.

He sure as hell did not step up. 65% completions and we walk away winning easily. That is his job as a QB in a big game.

Two drops by Jackson and Renfro were critical mistakes. The stupid ass play by Barber on the kick off was another.
Our D playing off the receivers allowing Burrow to do as he pleased and the biggest was not running. Jacobs was killing it early!
One more thing, we made the playoffs because of that clutch throw he made to Jones. Game over if he didn't.

love the fact that we are arguing big games and the definition.

if you have lead a team to two playoff games in 8 seasons, it would seem to me that every f[raiders_icon]cking game is big

and that is not moving the goalposts, that is just 8 years of f[raiders_icon]cking waiting

The rest is inconsequential. All QBs deal with all of these things, good QBs play at their best when it matters. Chokers choke.

Show me Carr not choking in a big game, then we can talk. Until then he is what we have seen, terrible when we need him the most.

I'm sorry but it's hilarious that there is a debate on Carr not choking in big games because he isn't good enough to get us there in the first place. It tickles me to no end how ridiculous it is. But it's the offseason after all

Just saying, I waited 8 years to give Carr the benefit of the doubt of 'maybe playoffs will be enough to see him play well - maybe those 4th quarter heroics translate into winning big games - maybe all this patience pays off with an Eli level playoff QB'.

It turns out that he plays like crap in the playoffs. A sub 70 passer rating is Josh Rosen level numbers.

It happened, the moment came and he choked. Deal with it. I wish it did not happen, but the results are what they are.

Noone gets to whitewash that reality.

Since 2002:

12 season before Carr 53-123. Zero playoff appearances.

This team was a disaster before he got here. 18-16 since the move to Vegas and trending in the right direction.
