Hell, I pull for whoever is wearing the Silver and Black laundry.

I see the media is getting hyped up about Tonka Hemingway, at 6'3 284 lbs he is small for a DT, He is way too light to be a Nose Tackle, so im guessing he will be used either as an outside 3-4 tackle or an inside DT in a 4-3. He still seems way too small to be a DT unless hes some sort of hybrid.
Im glad hes doing well but what exactly is he going to do at that size?
I want the DT position to have weight and height ratio. If you are 6'0" tall then 280, and add 10lbs per 1 inch height. So like 6'1, then its 290, etc. I want bigger DT's that can fill the space in a 3-4 line.

This is true. Experience doesnt just come from doing. It also comes from observing and interacting with those who are making the decisions. And Brady has a career full of that. That is how tacit knowledge is passed on. Not at all surprised that is the take of the poster who thinks he has as much experience as Brady.raidersince63 wrote: Sun Aug 09, 2026 1:41 pm Pretty sure Brady knows more about football decisions on and off the field than message board posters.
So does Kubiak, which is why he gave BOTH players a "day off" and thereby saying "Guys, that can't happen".

I agree. Mendoza is physically better. Yes. Stronger arm. Younger. Can scramble better but mentally? No. Cousins knows the offense and hasraidersince63 wrote: Sun Aug 09, 2026 3:35 pm The funny things is everyone knows that FM is our future and is possibly a better QB than Cousins even now, but that's not the point... there's a smart way and an uninformed way to do things and like you, I will yield to Kubiak and his crew to use their knowledge and experience to make the right choices as opposed to anyone here, especially someone who claims they are smarter.
15 years in the NFL.
Ill say that again, 15 years.
Mendoza knows nothing about how to be an NFL QB.
Let them all learn the system this year w Mendoza on the bench.
Add another fa period, draft, OTA, Mini camp, camp and pre-season games and then lets rock and roll.
I dont care about winning this year.
This is the year to work out the kinks and discover where to spend resources.

It's a win-win scenario. If Mendoza lights it up and takes the job, great. If Cousins plays well then Fernando can wear a baseball cap and learn, more importantly not get thrown to the wolves. While our OL was not great the pass blocking wasn't as bad as it looked. Geno could not read a defense to save his life and Chip Kelly was writing up game plans on an etch a sketch.
The run blocking? That is a different story entirely.

280 and strong as a bull can work at DT. But you absolutely have to be a beast in the weight room to make up for the lack of weight at the position.

And for the record, you all are arguing that Kubiak and his group are the decision makers, and yet, it is not Sept and we have no clue what and more importantly when a decision will be made....after zero snaps in an actual game has happened. We got three preseason games yet to come so who knows who gets the job. It may very well be those three games that gives Mendoza the experience to start, or it may very well be that it does not and Cousins starts. But arguing that Kubiak is going to make the call and you all will defer to him on that....gee, mighty nice of you.
Of course he makes the call, geniuses, that is his job.

I always find it funny when people say they are going to allow the head coach to make the call, or they are going to defer to the coaching staff because they are there every day and are seeing everything....it is such a "duh" thing. Someday I hope to see a fan say "if the coach makes the wrong call, I am going to call him on it and override the decision" because that is essentially what those statements imply.BoKnows81 wrote: Mon Aug 10, 2026 3:16 am Stop speaking facts man. Me? I am just a fan. I may be of the opinion that a certain decision is right or wrong, but I am powerless to affect those decisions. The best I am able to do is see the results in actual games to determine if I would have been right or wrong.
Of course we have incomplete knowledge of the situation. So do the 31 other teams in the league. That is a good thing, if it were not so, we would tip our hand to the actual opponents we suit up to play and that would be a very bad thing.
The hubris that suggests that people around here are going to defer to the head coach to make the call is pretty funny. But I do think it is pretty clear that many of us have a far more complete knowledge of the game than our goofy majority owner.
