Predict the 2026 record - your realistic expectations

Unread post by Viper »

With Mendoza needing time to adjust, an unproven O line and what I consider average receivers, I’m not really expecting to light it up on offense.

Defensively, we should be at least middle of the pack. That should go a long ways in helping stack wins.

Having said that, we are improved across the board yet still more work to do. I would predict we have 6 wins this year, double what we had last year. If Pete can manage 3 last year, I have faith with a better coaching staff we can do better. If we can beat the teams we’re supposed to plus staying close in the 4th quarter against better talent, we have a punchers chance in some of those.

Personally, at least another year or two to make some real noise if we nail FA and the draft.

3 surprisingly read-worthy articles out of SI. Even one from Hondo. Wonders never cease.

I’ll just add, my personal vitriol to those that still back Cur, or Gruden, or go hard defending Doofus, it’s this, they all stood in the way of what you read in these articles. They all stood in the way of the path to winning. Cur and Gru 2 are dyed-in-the-wool losers, and it took Mark 14 f[raiders_icon]cking years to get out of the g’damn way despite seeing first hand what it did for the Aces. At least he’s finally seen the light. Recognizing one’s mortality can be a tough, but incredible wake-up call.

We are finally being run by football people. Intelligent football people. As much as I f[raiders_icon]cking hate it had to take so long, at least we are finally there. At the beginning of it yeah, but I honestly thought we’d never even get to that point. We’ve actually lined-up at the starting line facing the right direction in matching socks and running shoes. Wonders never cease.

I don't think he is entirely correct and I don't hold Brown's opinions as indisputable. We have no real idea how the coaches are going to do, we have hope that they do their jobs well, but you never know how things are going to flesh out until you see the product on the field.
Yeah you really nailed that on the head; we really have no idea on how Kubiak is going to do as a head coach; he could end up being a great OC like McDaniel; but when it comes to Head Coaching he not that good;

Hope it all works out; but the way the teams play last 20 years has kinda put me on the back burner

All teams come into a game with a plan. Unfortunately, our past staffs floundered and couldn’t make mid game adjustments and, to confound the situation, there seemed to be many questionable decisions and clock management. At minimum, we appear to have a much aligned and cohesive staff making smart football moves, for now and the future. Personally, I have a lot of faith in Kubiak, Leonard and Dennison, just to name a few. Watching FA and the draft gives me hope we are leaps and bounds ahead from what we’ve had. Kubiak has tasted victory and we have a very young team that I’m betting will be eager to get a whiff of it and will be paying attention in class.

It seems a lot of the players, rookies and vets, that are coming into The Raiders are players that want to be part of the resurgence. They're not there just for the paycheck.

And that is exactly the type of players we truly need and have been for the most part, devoid of for so long.

I'd like a personality like McD has to also be a great HC, it's just more fun.

But you can see KK is very stoic, that doesn't guarantee anything, but my sense is he keeps it all on the down low, never satisfied and always pushing but in a cool controlled way, those are solid traits to being a HC.

The youth and modernization of management feels nice so far. Early impressions.

Viper wrote: Thu Apr 30, 2026 11:35 am This post brought back memories. Growing up in Oakland, there were literally block parties and we as kids would roam our neighborhood just having a blast. Banners and flags out, barbecues for blocks. It was a magical time being a Raider fan and kid living there, especially with the fact that we all expected the team to win, no matter the opponent. As a kid, it was more fun than a day at Disneyland, and I’ve been there plenty. And if we lost, you could feel it for days.
I lived on the corner of E12th and 40th Ave for a couple years in the mid 80’s remodeling the house living rent free. Exciting times as there were still remnants of the turf wars between the bloods and cripps.

My expectation is that midseason or so, the number of times the jumbotron is going to have ABBA on it will be astounding.

1032 40th Ave. If I had a rock standing on the front porch I could hit bart trains and freight trains as they went by lol. House across the street was a crack house and the sounds of hookers getting slapped around by pimps in the middle of the night were normal. I was fresh out of high school and offered free rent in lieu of labor on the inside of the house. Quite the eye opener and education for a young white boy out of Santa Barbara and Moraga.

Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o’clock at night, half an hour before I went to bed, eat a lump of cold poison, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad would kill us, and dance about on our graves singing “Hallelujah.”

If the Oline is much improved we can have a winning record, if not we will still suck.

I’m going to be wishy washy, no matter who is under center, 8-9 or 9-8 right there which beats the shit out of 3-14 and would line us up to get another decent O lineman in the first round of the draft. Having a 50-50 chance of winning each game would make me happy, yes you always have a 50-50 someone has to win and someone has to lose i just want that feel of it being a surprise. That’s the only thing that really scares me about the season, the O Line, feels like we are paying a lot of an experienced QB not only to help mentor Mendoza but to get knocked on his ass a lot, at lead Diaper Pete’s kid isn’t there, another win for us.
