Geno should have been benched already, but that would be a bad look for Carrol if his hand picked QB is washed up, right after joining the team and signing a huge contract.

He certainly has the velocity and arm strength; leadership is likewise there and guys will follow him; so it’s not any of those things. He’s got most of the tools to succeed. Just not all of them it looks like. That’s no knock on him, odds are most guys who make it to the NFL at QB won’t.
An analysis I saw of AOC last year hit it on the head: He can learn and master any offense, but cannot consistently execute that offense. This makes him a backup QB, nothing more.

The subject was about starting an alternative QB than the one current. Naturally, I mentioned the best one.

I'm not a fan of AOC, I just recognize that he has been, and still is, the best QB on the team.

 If anything, it's other posters who are fans of me.

 I stated this before: The real problem is, Raider's fans overrate how good the Raiders actually are, to the point where AOC's feats get downplayed.

The Raiders are arguably the worst team in the entire NFL since Mcdaniels. Yet, AOC as a rookie, took that team to one game out of the playoffs. AOC has a near .500 record starting only for the Raiders. Incredible. Geno smith with a better team is .250.

AOC had us one snap away from beating the best team in the AFC, no other Raider QB has come close his feats.

AOC is so solid, he had Raiders fans thinking, "if we upgrade QB, we're a playoff team". Without O'Connell the very next year the Raiders won 2 games. Without O'Connell this year the Raiders are 1-3, and AIDAN HAS NEVER had 240 yards rushing to lean on.

We're easily 2-2 with O'Connell MINIMUM, and I know that bothers you guys, that's why you follow me in every thread trying to troll me for my true takes.

It was either Hondo or Tafur on X who said something to the effect of "Normally, when a QB throws six interceptions in two games, it's a legitimate question whether he should be benched."

As I said yesterday: Trading for Geno was an acceptable risk to take, but through four games, it simply isn't working out.

I thought we would be better than we are. I think 98% of us did. I don't hate AOC.... I just think he will die behind this O line. Geno is not what I though he was... and I never thought he was all that... just better than what we had. I'm not going to disagree with anything you posted; It's just the truth, and admitting it sucks.

Yeah, I was thrilled when we signed Geno, he let us down bigtime. I put all the blame on Geno, none on myself for supporting him.

No one is a "fan" of a poster.

And when someone talks about O'Connell as an elite QB in the league, yea, that stinks of fandom.

O'Connell is a backup period.

This is the 3rd straight season the Raiders have brought in a veteran QB that's flopped. AOC came in both seasons and won a bunch of meaningless games to drop them out of a top pick. I think this season the team needs to ride it out with Geno and let his interceptions lead them to a top 3 pick. It's clear this roster needs another draft and maybe productive free agency period. I know Pete wants to win but his hand picked QB and son coaching the OL have flopped and his stubbornness to stick with them will likely lead the Raiders to the high picks they need in the 2026 draft.

Lol it doesn't matter who they put behind center, we're still on our way to a top 3 pick. Pickett is worse than Geno.

I remember a similar poster who was obsessed with Terrelle Pryor, I sometimes wonder if it's the same guy

Let's argue O'Connell v. McGloin while we are at it. I did have hopes for Terelle Pryor but after a few starts it was pretty obvious he was either going to start working on his route running or acquire a taste for Canadian beer.

And he’s not a high level backup either. When you’re slow footed you better have a big arm, and he doesn’t. In the right situation he has some value but we’re not that,

Right now; meaning this year we are not doing anything except building the Raiders to be a better team for 2026….the team is getting better but I think we are already in the hole with 1-3 record and we are maybe looking at a 4-13 or 5-12 season….

Gotta still give Geno some time with this offense; kinda shame that Aaron Rodgers was available and the raiders did not even take a sniff at him….

oh I agree totally. Backup but one that is so easily replaced it is not funny.
