What’s Cookin' on Gameday 2025

Unread post by Willmark »

In the vein of what's cooking with Scotman and Attyla.

As in years past, the 2025 What’s Cookin for Gameday thread. Post each week what you’re having on Gameday, drinks, appetizers etc,

Last year’s turned up some good stuff, so keep these in mind:

* Each week post what you are having for food, aka main dish.
* Appetizers?
* Desert?
* Each week what are you drinking?
* Include what you're having if you're tailgating.
* If you are ordering, what are you ordering?
* Brunch, you name it.

I smoked a chuck roast a few weeks ago and froze it. Breaking it out for a batch of chili. It's only supposed to be 84 today I need something to warm my bones lol. Probably throw some brats on the grill as well

Getting closer to chili weather here, and my game day chili is a delight. I may have to just do a batch next week weather be damned

Yeah around here it doesn't cool off until much later than it used to. Pushing 90 at Halloween. I cant wait that long.

No one is too hungry today so it looks like gourmet pretzels with queso and some pretzel nuggets via the oven.

Edit: looks like Willmark Jr is making cowboy hash.

Attyla wrote: Sun Sep 28, 2025 4:43 am Got some Michelob Ultra yesterday, since it is now the most popular beer in the US. Had a couple yesterday after doing the lawn and getting stung by three yellowjackets. fckers put up a nest under my side table next to my porch bench and I did not see it. Needless to say, they are all dead now, I am deadly accurate with that stuff you can shoot from 15 feet away. Nest is gone now, and I enjoyed the beers. RIP to the bugs, but they had it coming.

Oh and the beer is OK, not great but let's be honest, they are cheap for a reason and they got the job done, a bit of a pleasant buzz.
...there is a popular beer in this neck of the woods from labatt, out of Canada, called blue lite, which is my favorite, and despite having tried quite a few others over the years. ...I personally think that it blows away any other lite beer, and to me, it doesn't; even seem like a 'lite' beer. ...it has that scratch your throat lager quality about it, without being heavy, or filling you up. ...and by dumb luck, its about $27 for a 28 pack, so near a buck a bottle. ...and they keep bringing it!

I will look for that, always looking for a new beer and keeping it lite is exactly what I want especially if the flavor is not "lite"

edit, found two locations local for the beer, one I have shopped before and it is a nice shop

You can occasionally find Grohlsch in a 1 gal mini keg. Chilled just above freezing it's wonderful.

Crushed oreos are great in chili. Been a Halloween tradition at my house. A group of friends come over and we have chili feed outside. It's real fun if Halloween happens to fall on a night where there is a World Series or NFL prime time game on. We will watch it with my garage door open and hand out candy. I beats getting up every five minutes to answer the door.

If a kid happens to show up dressed in his Raiders for Chicago Cubs gear I have a bundled collection of football/baseball cards and bobble heads and stuff like that to go with the candy. Kind of my way to reward kids for keeping the faith, lol.

Looks like we may get game 6 of the World Series on Halloween this if it's played.

So.... golf course hot dogs were good as usual. I shot 76. So far it's been a good day. Ready to be let down by the Raiders, unfortunately.

76 is pretty awesome for an am. Did you play in college? My best ever was 78, but I got down into the 80's pretty regular.
