Nah, I think the team is stuck with this Qb for awhile. If this was McDaniels first go around as a HC I could see them considering trying to trade him for draft picks in this kind of market but with his history in Denver with the Cutler fiasco and Mark Davis in the way odds are the team will do something stupid and pay the current Qb 40 mil a year.
You may be right, but it will not go well for Josh in his second tenure.
Raiders need to shift gears now, and look to trade Carr either this year or next. To stay the course and bloat Carr's salary is simply a way to die by a thousand paper cuts...it will be slow and it will painful ...lasting the foreseeable future.
Keeping Carr just became about surviving the west
How so?
Carr is now clearly the fourth best QB in the division.

To keep up with the Jones's we are now going to not only keep Carr but we are going to have to pull a 2016 and get him every piece he needs to at least appear to be trying to keep up.

While that is possible what if he is fooling himself? if he hasn’t considered the possibility that the 2021 Team reached its peak, that it overachieved.
Only way we’ll know is this time next year if he’s right or I am. And with today’s trade in Denver? I like my chances.
Mark can shake his fist all he wants but like (allegedly) King Canute he can’t stop the tide no matter how many times he says othwewise.

You don't go into "next year" mode just because Denver got Wilson. If trading Carr wasn't the plan before, it shouldn't be the plan now. And I don't think that Ziegler and McDaniels are insecure enough to think this should change the plan.

I still think that’s the case.

Plenty of posters have stated they would rather deal the current Qb at the height of his trade value rather than overpaying him with a grossly overpaid extension way before this trade ever happened. This is not and has not been a reactionary stance to a Wilson signing. If anything it's just been an honest observation that this team now has the 4th best Qb in the division.

Snyder is a guy who would offer up a lot to get a guy like Carr and it has been reported he called

I am fully aware what the case is...I am arguing and providing discussion as to what it ought to be.

I am fully aware what the case is...I am arguing and providing discussion as to what it ought to be.
at this point, I am not sure what ought to be all I know is what is. We are the f[raiders_icon]cking Raiders, we ought to have an owner who knows what he is doing, we ought to be celebrating winning season number X in a row. But we are the f[raiders_icon]cking Raiders so what we ought to be doing is never going to be what we are doing.
but I get what you were trying to say.
