if you were apathetic you would not have had your outburst above. ignore me which is fine but making it personal given the benign nature of my post lends itself to a far from apathetic approach

That sounded great - unfortunately, that’s inaccurate, but I’ll give you an 8/10 for execution.
You’re conflating being “right or wrong” with “more or less knowledgeable”. Those two aren’t the same thing and was not the initial debate. You don’t have to be appealing to authority to believe the guys who dedicate their entire life to this profession are more knowledgeable about their football players than fans.
Since many of you seem to believe you definitively know the football player Carr more than McDaniels, or Gruden as you pose, give me an example. By all means, if you were sitting right in front of Josh McD right now and he asked you to drop a nugget of Carr knowledge that he wouldn’t know - what would it be?
McDaniels doesn’t yet know first hand that Carr won’t throw a Hail Mary if he calls it. Instead he will check down and give a sorry ass excuse why he refused to run the play as called…
Someone whose argument is built on a foundation of appealing to authority on a damn message board deserves to be fed whataboutisms.
ZeroYBannana was also supposed to know more about football than any 10 million fans together and he had his blind spots to say the least.
The more important thing though is that it doesn't matter an iota.
Even less erudite than me have been right as rain with the world thumbing their noses at them while it collectively f[raiders_icon]cked around and found out and smarter and wiser than McDaniels have been catastrophically wrong. Sometimes in the same day, I'm sure.
We aren't here to worship a pigskin Pope until the next white plums go up every 2.5 years so you will have to depend on the merit of your own arguments rather than hiding behind the resume of the rotation of geniuses rising and falling in the estimation of their supposed infinite expertise.
Personally, I accept that it is far more conclusive that I'm not hot enough to be a Raiderette so I'll leave the cheerleading to them.
“Hello 911? I just witnessed a murder.”

The OC can make a perfectly fine play call (see last play of Cinci game), but Carr will fail to execute it by not letting the routes develop, one read and done, not seeing wide open guys, not buying an extra second in the pocket, etc. These are things he just hasn't improved on in years.
I miss the steady upward trajectory Derek Carr from years 1-3.

Derek Carr has a career 4.3 TD%
Lamar Jackson has a career 6.3 TD%
Derek Carr has 199 total touchdowns in 127 career starts.
Lamar Jackson has 105 total touchdowns in 49 career starts.
You can easily argue Carr has had better receivers than what Jackson has had to work with.
Carr can make all the throws and has the ability to run, but for whatever reason can't score touchdowns.
actually the Tebow comment has some merit. Not only did he draft him, but they traded up to get him. Do I know as much as a guy who spends hours a day watching tape? Not in the least, but the pick was pretty universally panned. I know Tebow won a playoff game but let's not kid ourselves that he was a primary reason. They went 8-8 so they were not world beaters.
Again, I am not saying I know as much as a HC but how often do we see videos from the Tape Don't Lie guys and focus on every word. With Youtube and the All 22 and enough time you can get to be a pretty good evaluator of talent.
And for the record, Estrella Jalisco is far better than Modelo. Even Sol measures up.
Tim Tebow was a beast coming out of college.
Tim Tebow was a beast coming out of college.
which of course is why only the Broncos wanted him to QB a team, most other teams wanted to convert him. His accuracy was crap, and those are college observations. His mechanics were horrible and never got any better. Teams projected him as a FB or a really slow TE who could not block. Tebow refused to be converted which added to the mounting reasons nobody wanted him after 3 years. He was the most overblown player since he won at the college level. He won at that level and he was great as a college player. His game was not a NFL game though, there is no shame in that, the list of great college QBs who's game did not translate to the pros is miles long.

Better to have just above average than to have below average. If it were easier to get a top ten tier QB, Josh would be doing it. And my gut tells me, Zeigler will take some swings, but in the meantime, you ride the horse you have and it is prudent not to say anything to piss that horse off.
Did people actually believe that Josh would come out and say that he thinks Carr is average to just above average? What bonehead HC would say that?

As to this thoroughbred that’s brought us 57 Wins and 70 Losses with 0 playoff wins at the cost of $129,519,250.00. I’m not worrying about pissing it off. I’m thinking “Glue”. With that record you couldn’t even make it a breeder.
Tim Tebow was a beast coming out of college.
He was a beast in college. Coming out, he was a very poor QB prospect--and a poor prospect at any position for that matter. His game might have translated to the NFL in the 1940s. McDaniels, now our head coach, made an easily foreseeable mistake in drafting him. Tebow should have been at the very best a 5th round draft pick, taken as a developmental prospect for a backup QB position. At least that would've given him time to potentially develop and occasionally used as a gadget player.
