This is my favorite coach interview tracker - can see everything at a glance. It's just updated once a day though, and this one from yesterday is already stale...... today's will have plenty of updates, especially now that all the wildcard coaches can take interviews this week.

Some deletions to the coaching staff will happen on the webpage with no notice. I'm just attaching this image of the current roster so people can stalk all the changes as they come. Notably, the Carroll sons are still on the list.

Does any coach ever say they pound square pegs into round holes? This time of year everyone says the same thing. Flexible. Multiple. Puts players into positions to succeed. Then when they take over it is the complete opposite.
Especially though with Webb. How do we know he is flexible and a willingness to blend concepts until he actually does it. Who admits to running a rigid one dimensional scheme?
You can take any OC or DC and word what they do and make it sound like what they do is so fantastic and different. It is done every year with different coordinators. Luke Getsy and Greg Olson had glowing reports about them at one time too.
I am not against Webb if he interviews and they are like this is the guy, but people who are going off like he has proven anything that says he should take over the team. . .I just can't see it.

The less someone knows about someone, the more they can create that person into whatever they want in their mind.haji81872 wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 7:35 am Does any coach ever say they pound square pegs into round holes? I agree that we, as fans, can't evaluate whether a guy might walk the talk or not. I hope that the team does their research by talking to coaches who have worked with a guy and players who've played for him. Ultimately there's no guarantee that a guy is the same after a promotion to a HC job as he was when he was QB coach or OC, but you have to actually do enough legwork to give yourself a chance at a decent assessment.haji81872 wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 7:35 am Does any coach ever say they pound square pegs into round holes? That's why I talk more about the process of the HC search, instead of the results. Be rigorous in your process, and accept that everything is a data point, and ultimately trust the process to help you in your decision. That's how you avoid falling in love with the idea of Gruden 2.0 and then operating a sham process to back it up.

By the chart, the Titans aren't casting a wide net, they are throwing spaghetti at the wall that they scraped from the bottom of the barrel with the stone the did not leave unturned.

What style of offense does Mendoza play in at indiana?
Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza plays in an offense run by Curt Cignetti, featuring a mix of West Coast-style timing, RPO (Run-Pass Option) heavy concepts with NFL-style throws (back-shoulder, intermediate routes), and incorporating Mendoza's mobility with designed QB runs and bootlegs, aiming for quick-hitting, efficient plays. The system emphasizes finding open receivers quickly, using play-action, and leveraging Mendoza's arm talent and intelligence, tailoring plays to his strengths.
Key Characteristics of the Offense:
Cignetti's System: Built around getting the ball to playmakers, with a focus on efficiency and exploiting matchups.
RPO Heavy: Utilizes Run-Pass Options to keep defenses honest and create mismatches.
West Coast Elements: Emphasizes timing, rhythm, and intermediate throws like outs and drags, especially for a quarterback like Mendoza who excels in clean pockets.
QB Mobility Integration: Coach Cignetti incorporates designed runs and bootlegs to utilize Mendoza's athleticism, unlike previous quarterbacks.
Point Guard Mentality: Mendoza sees himself as a distributor, finding the open receiver (like a point guard in basketball) to set up plays, especially threes.
Play-Action & Pre-Snap Reads: Strong emphasis on Mendoza's ability to read defenses pre-snap and use play-action to create openings for receivers.
In essence, it's a modern, adaptable system designed to maximize the talent of its quarterback, blending traditional concepts with contemporary QB-friendly concepts.
I'd like to see an OC build on Mendoza's strengths and build Mendoza's scheme into a pro scheme.
Maybe they mean pro OCs have "their scheme" and they push QBs to work within it.
Honestly id like to plunder Indiana's OC Mike Shanahan (no relation) and make him the OC or assistant OC.
A nice bridge.

Been really impressed with our candidate list (for the most part). We will see where we land, but this might be the best process we have ever seen from the Raiders.

I don't expect this to move that fast...... but I think the situation with the Raiders is such that some candidates might be waiting for the Raiders to make a decision instead of using the Raiders as a fallback if other options don't materialize.
Currently the only Rooney Rule interview scheduled is Ejiro Evero. We interviewed Joseph last week, but virtual interviews don't count. I'd assume that Evero's interview will be in person since he's exited the playoffs.

Thanks to jraider for keeping the list in the OP updated. As far as I can tell, it's the only up to date list on the web.

I believe that Scheelhaase's first interview has to be virtual, so it wouldn't satisfy the Rooney rule until he had a second interview.Raidernation1979 wrote: Mon Jan 12, 2026 11:26 am Nate would be Rooney rule also right? I know you mentioned scheduled didn’t know if you meant requested also
I'm disappointed in Jraider for not even trying to spell his last name.

I don't know if it is just an interesting coaching cycle or the fact that we have the most cap space and the #1 pick but this year it feels like we are interviewing a much better calibre of candidates than in previous years.
I am very, very intrigued by Webb. I like his versatility and adaptability. I like that everyone who talks about him has glowing reports on his intelligence and personality. I'm not worried by his lack of experience as a HC or co-ordinator. IMO using success as a co-ordinator as a marker for possible success as a HC is a flawed approach. The problem is that the development pathway for HC's in the NFL is very narrow and with very few opportunities.
I doubt we will appoint him but I do like the fact we are thinking creatively. I'd love to be a fly on the wall with the conversations the front office are having right now. And Webb? Who knows? it might just work. Madden did pretty well.
