Come on, man. I don't care whether you love Carr, loathe Carr, or fall anywhere in between. You, and none of the rest of us, come remotely close to knowing as much about Carr, the football player, as McDaniels. To suggest you even watch Carr in the same way as someone with the breadth of football knowledge of a person like McDaniels is crazy. We guzzle Modelos and slam carne asada tacos on Sundays, and moan about the guy on a fan forum on Monday. Suffice it to say, McDaniels routine and methodology is somewhat more extensive.
Now McD will pass all of us in Carr knowledge like a genius vs the short bus students at a science fair. But once upon a time, McD only HAD to turn his attentions to him when he felt like it. I imagine a Patriot defensive coach knew more about Carr than McD, once upon a time.

We have 8 years of watching every minute of every game that Carr was in. 8 years of experience ain’t nothin’.

It’s kind of like a brother, sister, or best friend getting married. You might have that breadth of experience with them, but in short time, the new spouse’s knowledge will far far exceed your own.
I can’t see him lying as it serves no purpose. Other GM’s have not come out and contradicted him and knowing how thin skinned Rodgers is would not be a good idea to be untruthful in regards to anything involving him.
GMs lie, it is part of the business
So do the Carr haters think they know more football than mcdaniels?
Mcdaniels wanted Tebow as his QB, maybe he loves Christian QBs? Or maybe he’s not always correct in his assessments. May as well stick to the labels though since you have nothing else to stand on. :koolaid:
Ah, a 'whataboutism'. Should I start listing a few Patriot 1st round busts as well? Maybe that guy Bill Belichick who drafted them doesn't know what he's doing, either.
It doesn’t mean they don’t know what they are doing but it does mean they make mistakes and aren’t infallible. So for someone to latch onto “does this fan know more than this coach/GM” about said player it’s a valid point. Just because Mcdaniels may like Carr doesn’t make Carr good. It also doesn’t make a fan’s opinion on Carr invalid because it differs.

If McDaniels and Ziegler decide to keep Carr and Carr fails to take that next step, it's McDaniels and Zieglers fault for sticking with the guy.

I'm gonna be more upset with those 2, than Carr because they could have traded him and got most likely some good picks in return.

If they keep Carr and Carr some how becomes that great player his fans see with their homer goggles, I will gladly eat crow and admit I was wrong.

But I highly doubt it, I've seen Carr play enough to know this guy doesn't have that killer instinct and will to win. He's a quitter straight up!

And it's my opinion of course, but watching Carr do some of the most chicken shit on the football field, is enough for me to form my opinion.

Yes, it's easy to say that on the couch, but I ain't making $100,000,000 like Carr to just fumble the ball away to support my fall....
you mean fans of the team who have different opinions?

the labeling is tired. we need to move on from that crap.
I agree, we do need to move on - and it should start today since it’s clear we are moving forward with Carr

the adults can discuss varying levels of support or disdain and the various outcomes. Only a very few hate Carr and only a very few unconditionally love Carr

The rest of us are at least grounded
So do the Carr haters think they know more football than mcdaniels?
I don't recall anyone realistically saying Carr was gone this year. I think the general consensus was known he'd be the starter this year. Beyond this year & the rumored extension is a different story. Not sure if you were trying to trigger people or what but from what I've read on here, most everyone expected this news

What happened to the regimes that moved ahead with Carr? It will be no different. I think McDaniels surprises some people.

My best guess would be that the new staff know what we all know about Carr - he's not going to carry you to a championship, but could get there with a strong team around him, and you can't build that team if you give him too much of the cap.

It's like if Mark Davis called some Raider fan out of the blue and offered him a job where his only function was to watch and evaluate Derek Carr.

After some time, the guy would learn a few things.

Hell, we don't even get paid for this. Mark Davis owes us some money.

That said, Carr isn't a coward. He just isn't talented enough to be a guy that's able to compete with the likes of what we saw in the divisional round this year.

Poor pocket awareness causes fumbling, which makes him look really bad. That's not cowardly, it's getting latched onto by a huge, really strong guy. Frankly, anyone's gonna look like one of the Three Stooges in that situation.

Again, it comes down to talent and Carr just doesn't have enough of it to ever be elite.
