The more I think on it the more the numbers being thrown around for Carr make no sense. Is it his agent driving up his contract? Is it the team driving up his trade value? Even those who like Carr can't think he's worth 35 mill a year. At least I hope so. I don't think we can build a competitive playoff team around that contract.

Renfrow is on an expiring deal and will demand somewhere in the ballpark of 10 mill a year.

Crosby is looking at 20-25 mill a year.

If you retain Carr in addition to Renfrow/Maxx, as it stands today that is a third of our cap space in 2023, spent on 3 players. We need 52.

This team hit it's peak under Carr in 2021. Spending more money isn't going to solve anything.

My general feeling is that if the contract average is bigger than the franchise tag would be the next year then just wait it out so I wouldn't sign Crosby to a $20-25 million deal and the lack of sack production will hurt his value a bit anyway.

If Carr wants to do a contract that's in the $30ish million range, that would be fine - something tradeable if it doesn't work with MdD. If not, then play it out and decide in 2022 - that might actually be the best move for both sides.

Can they give a valid reason why? Depends on what you would consider valid, but the reasons stated in this thread border on ridiculous to me.
I've got one.

Way back in the MySpace days, I get a message from some chick, liking what I had to say. Her profile pic was cute. She was from Detroit. We strike up some convo, eventually exchanged numbers, and we started chatting almost every night. After a couple months, she sent me some scantily clad photos. Holy smokes she was hot.

Then, my work let's me know they'll be sending me and a couple coworkers to Detroit to attend a conference. What timing! Couldn't wait to tell her and arrange a hook up. She owned a limo service and said she'd be waiting outside the hotel in a stretch Chrysler 300 limo.

So I'm bragging to my buddies, showing them the pics of the date I've got lined up. I was stoked. The day finally came. We pull up to the hotel and there's the stretch limo. They pull up beside it to let me out. She steps out of the car... all 5'2" and 350 lbs of her. I could hear my buddies laughing as they were driving away. My first tough lesson on the interwebz. :bawling:

OT: Derek still sux balz.
OK.....but did you "take one for the team" anyway?

Hard to hammer these numbers down without seeing what the market looks like this offseason. I agree 30 mill might be a number I could convince myself of. But even that I'm skeptical. Really I think we hit the sweet spot with his salary this season and in the final year of his contract. We overpaid back then and didn't need to, and we'll overpay now (And we still don't need to.)

The only potentially viable argument I've heard justifying giving Carr a big raise is that the cap will increase and thus eventually reduce the sting of Carr's proposed big contract.

But no one knows for certain how much the cap will go up or if it will go up at all. It could even decrease.

The problem of Carr's point production remains whether the cap goes up, down, or remains the same, and it will still hamper our ability to re-sign players and acquire free agents.

We prepaid $5 million of his $25 million salary in a signing bonus - that doesn't just vanish from his real compensation because it was already paid. And for anyone who says he shouldn't play this year without guarantees - just guarantee his 2022 salary.
OK.....but did you "take one for the team" anyway?
I jumped in the back of the limo and started pounding the Crown & coke she had stocked, wondering if I was actually gonna try it. If I was, I'd sure as hell have to be shitfaced. After hitting a few bars I went ahead and told her to come up to my room. Was going to, but my dick said HELL NO. It's got better taste than I do apparently.

Last time it took to this past season to get it down to okay value, it was a raw deal the whole time and to do donyou have to pretend away all the upfront money already paid out.

I'd rather pay the market if it is dictated than get stuck with a screw job in pursuit of a coupon.

The fact that Carr brought up his contract recently, is proof he thinks he deserves one.

Talking about blessing with his money. Only one getting blessed is his self-righteous ass and not the Raiders.

I know that players play for money 1st, but the Raiders need to think smart before they give their money away like a dumbass.

Most of the time players get overpaid because a team is in need. The Raiders need talent in many places, don't need to satisfy just one guy when he hasn’t proven shit in this league, but some meaningless stats.

I don't necessarily have complete control over all my bodily functions. The heart was willing but the body wouldn't cooperate. The exact opposite of our QB. So screw you man! :loltears:
This story only gets me a ton grief, but I will tell it anyway. I was in a jazz club in the early '90s, and Julia Roberts was there. Every single time I looked over at her, she was already looking at me and would smile when I made eye contact. This happened numerous times throughout the course of the night, and the truth is that it just scared the shit out of me. I completely pussed out.
Hey wait a minute......

I'm pretty sure I read that story in the Penthouse Forum April 2007.

As long as were making shit up.......ERRRR...confessing.....

Back in 1973 when I was hanging out in Haight Ashbury........ spotted Stevie Nicks and offered to get her high.....

went to my V DUB Micro van and f[raiders_icon]cked like rabbits for 3 days.

Had a bunch of pics to commemorate the occasion, but they burned up when my VW went up in flames on Route 66 in New Mexico.
