I hope we are not rushing to extend him right now as it makes little to no sense. Balancing the potential savings (if extended now) almost forces us to keep him VS. seeing how he performs with the new staff (and if he plays well costing us more $) should be an easy decision. We still control him and we need to be patient and let the process play out (while keeping an eye on what we could get for him while his salary is still low).

Comments on there are great. People using a highlight reel as proof Derek is actually really good.

People using a highlight reel as proof Derek is actually really good.[/quote]Someday, maybe like 10 years after he retires, the NFL Network or ESPN will do some documentary on him with all his highlights. There will dramatic music, and invigorating shots of him whooping it up with his teammates after a score, etc. People who didn't see him play will wonder why he's not in the HOF.
The same can be done for any average NFL QB who plays for 4-5 years. Hell, the highlight reels for Connor Cook coming out of Michigan State made him look stellar. When I first saw that highlight reel I wondered why no one took him sooner than the 4th round. So I rewound it and noticed that his O-line was a concrete block wall and that his receivers were wide open. IOW, he wasn't making throws into tight windows, he wasn't escaping pressure, improvising, etc. He was playing catch with wide open guys against horrible competition, but the highlight reels, if you didn't think about it, made him look like he should've been the Heisman Trophy winner.

If he played more “hero ball” everyone would likely stfu.

Carr, however poorly posters feel he played, had us in position to win the game. No?

Maybe had he hit the wide open receivers that were called out no less than 4 times earlier in the game, these posters would no be upset.
Maybe we should not have been in a position to lose the game to begin with - but your boy choked in his playoff game, no?

Left to highlight reels, “What-ifs”, movable goalposts, blindfolds, isolated stats, and a general esoterica in order to prop-up the charlatan.
Raider Nation will always be here to welcome back this bizarre offshoot that lost their way.
