I did not want Jeanty (not a knock on him, I just do not like to draft RB's that high). That being said, I completely understand drafting him (he is that good). However, how the f[raiders_icon]ck do you not follow up his selection by drafting a guard (not saying anything negative about Bech). There were MANY quality guards available who would be day one starters. Every dumb fan knew guard was a HUGE need and even a more dire a need if you want to protect your investment (Jeanty). Jeanty (if given a chance by running behind a real NFL OL) could be special and give us a GREAT young nucleus (with Brock).
I am not going to crucify the administration by signing Cappa (they took a chance). I will crucify the administration on two fronts. Parham was already deemed WORTHLESS and GARBAGE. How the f[raiders_icon]ck is he still starting? Secondly, the change in positions is stupidity at its finest. Why aren't we playing guys at positions to optimize their success. JPJ should be playing center. Why f[raiders_icon]ck with this kid and cut his balls off while he is still developing? Head scratchers for sure. I am trying not to be a Monday morning QB. Just venting like we all love to do.

He shown that if you give him a crease, he can do good things with the ball. Consistently get him past the LOS and he'll be a great asset.

I just wonder where he’d have been picked if we had selected Membou instead.Opoponax50 wrote: Wed Sep 24, 2025 9:13 am He shown that if you give him a crease, he can do good things with the ball. Consistently get him past the LOS and he'll be a great asset.

If I had to guess, Dallas. I remember them being very interested. Chicago was in on him too and they turned heads with the Colston pick, so maybe they had him circled all along or thought Jeanty may have fell to them.Raider_Len wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 7:32 am I just wonder where he’d have been picked if we had selected Membou instead.

That's not a good answer though for this year. Even following up on the next 2 picks for OL, they would be non-blue chip rookie lineman.BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 4:34 am Taking Jeanty was absolutely the right decision. I won't kill the staff for that. I will however kill them for not following up with O linemen the next 2 picks. It even looks worse when your 2nd and 3rd round picks can't get on the field.
We needed to get control of this online immediately and only vet FA's could have filled the gap.

Hindsight is 20/20 but Membou in the first, best G available in the 2nd and Skat in the 3rd would have been a homerun.

Again, Tate Ratledge and others were available in Rd 2. Guards do not need to be blue chip. Surely u know that. And Tate looks like a studSkullCrusher wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 12:54 pm That's not a good answer though for this year. Can you count on anyone being there who is day one ready at a certain point in the draft?BoKnows81 wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 1:26 pm Again, Tate Ratledge and others were available in Rd 2. Guards do not need to be blue chip. Surely u know that. And Tate looks like a stud
I wouldn't expect any non-blue chip guard even to be ready to go that would be part of a good oline.
Can it happen? Sure.
Should you count on it? No.
You need proven people already and to be supplanted by younger players earning it.
That said the competition here isn't high at all.

we should have taken a swing at a couple linemen for sure, I think it was not even debatable in the moment. I am not disappointed in our draft at all, but we did have a couple times where we could have dipped into that poolSkullCrusher wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 1:52 pm Can you count on anyone being there who is day one ready at a certain point in the draft?

Yeah I'm all about the oline, but I'm talking counting on no first round rookies fielding a quality oline immediately.Attyla wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 1:55 pm we should have taken a swing at a couple linemen for sure, I think it was not even debatable in the moment. Still doesn't mean you don't pick, but you have proven answers already, unless you do go first round.

rookie Olinemen are a crapshoot. Even top picks sometimes need time to figure it out.SkullCrusher wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 2:09 pm Yeah I'm all about the oline, but I'm talking counting on no first round rookies fielding a quality oline immediately.

I look at it this way:
How wide is the gap between DJ Glaze and Membou?
How wide is the gap between Jeanty and RB2 & 3?
DJ Glaze is a second-year player who was good enough to get the starting job as a rookie. He still has a lot to learn but at this point he is a fringe starter/ solid stop-gap RT. The gap between Membou and Glaze is there, but not that wide.
Meanwhile, the gap between Jeanty (generational) and RB2 is so great that you have to take Jeanty.
Membou would have to be all-pro to take him over Jeanty. And even then, it wouldn't change our running game, seeing as most of our runs are inside zone to the left. Even when it comes to pass-blocking, most of our problems are at guard.
Another thing to consider: if we DON'T take Jeanty, and he goes to the Chargers, we would be singing a completely different tune.

Nice analysis, especially the Charger thing. Yeah, there would be coronaries here aplenty about that.mranquales wrote: Fri Sep 26, 2025 4:05 pm I look at it this way:

PS For full disclosure I wanted Graham, and when he was gone by our pick I really don't know what I would have done if in charge, so I'm not saying I knew better. Jeanty seemed right at that spot, okay with it.
