So I guess we shouldn't have taken Brock Bowers last yearCWood24 wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 12:57 am It seem very much so that Jeanty was a luxury pick that i did suggest he was, although he has alot of talent our team wasn’t ready for a player like him.
The “you don’t pass up on a generational talent” chat seems stupid now that we’re focussed on how bad our OL is messing up out entire team
I’m a win it in the tranches guy so fixing either line was my go to option (Mason Graham was my 1st choice & OL 2nd) a lot of people called these struggles with Jeanty i personally thought he’d have bad games but he hasn’t had a decent game yet
People were told Campbell & Membou weren’t OT at the next level both are playing OT with both doing well with a few rookie struggles, Kelvin Banks wasn’t a top pick & with Booker that you don’t draft OG that high
Everyone is doing the i told you so across the board with this team so i guess this stuff needs to be said with Jeanty
So i guess what i’m saying is generational talent or not you don’t take them until you have fixed that huge issues you have that’ll then give them a stage to perform

Taking Jeanty was absolutely the right decision. I won't kill the staff for that. I will however kill them for not following up with O linemen the next 2 picks. It even looks worse when your 2nd and 3rd round picks can't get on the field.

So I wanted to compare the top OL's in the league to ours, specifically the investment made by orgs into the best performing units. Simply to see if we really shot ourselves in the foot by drafting Brock Bowers or Ashton Jeanty rather than sinking first round picks into the OL until we were prepared to add a star skill position player. I'll let the data speak for itself as to what people want to extrapolate from it.
Right now I think it would be hard to argue against the Colts being one of the best OL in football. Danny Dimes has been transformed into Indiana Jones. A journeymen turned starter thanks to the 3rd ranked rushing attack (153 Yds/G) while giving up a league low 2 sacks.
LG: Quenton Nelson (Drafted by Colts in '18, 1st Round)
C: Tanor Bortolini (Drafted by Colts in '24, 4th Round)
RG: Matt Goncalves (Drafted by Colts in '24, 3rd Round)
RT: Braden Smith (Drafted by Colts in '18, 2nd Round)
The 2nd best OL through 3 weeks is probably the Bills. You could also argue they might be the best OL and Josh Allen generates a few extra sacks on his own due to playstyle. They are 1st in rushing with 163 yds/game, and tied for 3rd in pass pro with 4 sacks.
LG: David Edwards (Free agency '24, $6 mill 2 yr deal)
C: Connor McGovern (Free agency '23, $22 mill, 3 yr deal)
RG: O'Cyrus Torrence (Drafted by Bills in '23, 2nd Round)
RT: Spencer Brown (Drafted by Bills in '21, 3rd Round)
And lastly for comparisons sake the Raiders, ranked 30th in rushing and tied for 31st in sacks given.
LG: Dylan Parham (Drafted by Raiders in '22, 3rd Round)
C: Jordan Meredith (UDFA in '21, Has been on and off our practice squad since '22)
RG: Alex Cappa (Free agency '25, $11 mill, 2 yr deal)
RT: DJ Glaze (Drafted by Raiders in '24, 3rd round)
Honorable mention because wtf is our coaching staff doing:
Jackson Powers-Johnson (Drafted by Raiders in '24, 2nd Round)

Bower's skill set is less dependent on a good O line.

Don't draft running backs in the first round.

2nd and 3rd round picks should have been Oline. Could have taken a starting G in the 3rd before trading back to draft two Olineman at back of 3rd that are inactive on game days. Someone tried to get too cute.

I know our line is horrible but the guys who all get hit the most arent very fast. 4.5 - 4.8 range. Jeanty never did any combine tests, so he could be 4.5 or slower. If you notice he doesnt get the ball then blast off, he eases into the runs and builds speed as he progresses. They need to open up holes for him and he would be more decisive probably, but right now he is playing slow as well.
Good grief that was hard to watch. Confirms what we all saw live in that the IOL gets blown up almost every play.
He did hit the wrong hole a couple times but I imagine all good backs do occasionally.
OL is embarrassing.

Yeah I don’t think he’s a burner but I think he’s powerful and elusive. He just needs a line that can get him past the line of scrimmage.rich72 wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 5:01 pm I know our line is horrible but the guys who all get hit the most arent very fast. 4.5 - 4.8 range. For me he is Doug MartinLayneStaley wrote: Tue Sep 23, 2025 5:10 pm Yeah I don’t think he’s a burner but I think he’s powerful and elusive. He just needs a line that can get him past the line of scrimmage.
Small, elusive, strong, tough & hard to take down
No doubt there is talent there but i can see this ending up like things did with Barkely, gets drafted into a bad situation then ends up going elsewhere & shows just how good he can be
I have a feeling some of those failings are him not trusting that they’ll open holes for him so he is free wheeling just trying to get going

All he has to do is watch the video of the blocking, and he'll be scarred from wanting to be "Always A Raider". It is obvious that he hasn't been given much help.ToastPatterson wrote: Sun Sep 21, 2025 4:27 pmI just hope Jeanty can avoid being mentally scarred for life playing behind this group.
He's got talent, no doubt. ... but his vision (not being able to see over his OLine) and not always knowing where the SAM is ... I don't know is this a "learning thing" for him, or is this his height and "style of play" in the NFL.
Gotta love the way he runs over people in the open field.
Imagine if once each quarter, the OLine executed one more play correctly.
Imagine if he had one extra play per quarter where his 1st contact was the LB.
people wanting to blame Jeanty for this? pfffft
