I just wouldn't pay it. He's under contract. Play it out. If he ascends to a higher level under the new regime then you talk contract, or tag him, or move on. You don't have to pay "market". Carr's play is worth $30 in today's game..... the market - what QBs actually get paid - is higher.
This.
It seems like McDaniel's and apparently our new GM, feel that they can get what earlier circumstances, and then later, what more and more seems to be Carrs 'ceiling', past all of that. .
Arguments against Carr were more based on ignorance earlier in his career, and by meatheads who think that they know more than they do. Those arguments have certainly become more valid over the more recent years due to him having had the consistency of Gruden and his system, and us actually having acquired some targets around him. I never liked Gruden. or his offense, (or at least his play calling) and predicted out load ,here and elsewhere, when they rehired him, that it would be wasted years.
Can McD get him past that by putting him in a position which helps to neutralize his considerable weakness's, while better maximizing his strengths? McD has made guys with more glaring weaknesses look serviceable, and actually win. I am a hell of a lot more hopeful with him, that i was with Gruden, though buy the time with the year left on his contract, and take it from there .
Carr had prime Crabtree and a young Cooper who only came into the league averaging 1k yards a season but now the narrative is he never had good receivers and that’s why he’s a bad red zone QB
you can’t make this stuff up with Carr fans.
This is exactly why Carr isn't worth anywhere near his speculated contract price of $30+ million. He's a limited player who will throw around 19-22 TD passes per season, is ineffective under center due to having no play fake or pump fake, has poor pocket presence, often doesn't see open receivers, isn't an anticipatory thrower, and who doesn't see open running lanes when his receivers are blanketed.
Throw in the fact that he's mostly a one read QB who has regressed in the latter half of the season 4 years in a row and it really doesn't matter who you put around him; his game is what it is and there's no good reason to think it's going to get any better going into his 9th year.
If the idea is that we can win with an overall average QB, then we can do it for a lot cheaper.

Is what it is.
if that happen, say good bye to any chances of winning the super bowl until carr are officially retired

So if we had the 32nd ranked defense would the offense have to be ranked #1 to go 500?

Maybe Carr just will never mentally get back to the space he was in before he broke the leg…

Of course this doesn't take into account his elusive and explosive running for RZ TDs

What you are saying is we were better running the ball before Gruden - nothing to do with Carr. Stop listening to non blue checkmarks on Twitter and relaying it here as fact please.
Carr has also always crumbled in December. Every coach, every time.
