I wouldn’t put him on the level of guys like Trent Dilfer but he certainly had tons of help. I don’t believe Derek could have done it with that Rams team but he certainly could have with Trent’s Ravens team. Are you going to answer my question now?
we have a trash team around whoever the quarterback going to be, stay tuned...

if we trade carr we'd have to hit on a qb as well, which isn't easy as some here seem to think. just ask the colts or the broncos. nice teams, but they can't find even decent qbs.

we need a top 10 defense to have a chance and create many turnovers

also, do you think that the raiders in 2023 will have a better chance to hit on free agents if they have let's say 120 instead of 90m of the capspace (they are projected at 152m as of now)? i mean it's not like there is an infinite number of good free agents. the most of the elite ones are tagged or re-signed anyway.

No one knows what it will be until the Raiders go through free agency this year. Looking at future years of cap space is pretty silly. Most every team has a tons of space two or three years into the future.
I believe Ziegler will be a busy man this offseason in free agency...and trust me that will most probably impact the 2023 cap numbers unless of course he only signs players to one year deals. And if he does, then all the cap space is really not that attractive in that it only means you have a plethora of free agents and mounds of needs to be addressed.
Every year, it has been my experience that most, if not all teams competing to get to the next level in the playoffs would like more cap space to fill out their teams. So, doubt the Raiders will be sitting around in 2023 not knowing what to do with their extra cash. Yes, when you look into the future there seems to be mounds of cap space...but when you get there...it dissipates pretty quickly as you to try to resign players or fill in needs - some unexpected.
I think the entire argument that there is a ton of money to go around by pointing to cap space a year or two down the road is a disingenuous one.
I do hope that Ziegler will be looking for that QB in the draft that Josh can groom. I think that is the best chance for the Raiders getting to the next level.
The argument I have heard is because “Derek deserves it and we don’t want to hurt his feelings.” We know all too well Derek gets his feelings hurt easily.
That seems to be the consensus. of why Carr needs to be resigned. Which begs the question, does anyone really think a prospect QB will ever be drafted while Carr is here? Or would his feelings be hurt then too?

On 1st take, it was mentioned Stafford's record in Detroit, before joining the Rams, 74 - 90. I had to look that up just to make sure that was correct. Sure enough, a quarter back with a losing record (earning one pro bowl selection in that time period) goes to a better team and wins it all.
Carr's current record (57-70) is about on pace what Stafford was at 30 (61-76)
Goes to show, a quarter back can turn things around in the right situation on a better team and have a success.

Even in Detroit Stafford was slinging it all around, his arm talent is superior to Carr and he didn't or doesn't disappear for weeks like Carr. Carr goes from a good QB to being like a rookie for weeks. But yes, I hope some team wants Carr bad and gives us a 2nd or 3rd or some combo of draft picks for him. Make my day please as I don't ever want to see him in silver and black playing QB again.

Stafford absolutely disappeared for weeks. Take a look at his game logs from the past and you can easily see that. He also threw the ball a ridiculous number of times. You can get decent stats when you throw the ball 663, 727, and 634 times in consecutive seasons. Carr needed 17 games to ever break 600. Detroit fans were perfectly fine getting rid of Stafford because he didn't win games. Stafford winning the Superbowl shows that a QB is only as good as his team. Throw Carr on the LA Rams and they still might win the Superbowl. Throw Stafford on the Raiders and we still don't win the Superbowl.Only problem is Carr isn't nearly as good as Stafford. Carr has thrown more TD passes than Stafford twice since entering the league. 1 of those years Stafford only played in 8 games and was only 2 TDs behind Carr. The other year was 2020. Both full years and Carr threw one more. Carr isn’t close to Stafford.
