Mayock and Gruden tried putting talent around him to evaluate him at the expense of the defense.
Mark is putting another entire front office around him because his evaluations matter most of all I guess.
I can't wait for Carr to retire at 38 from this team after his 9th 'QB whisperer'. Zero Lombardi's, but hey at least Carr's family is set for generations and we likely had quite a few 7-9 win seasons.
The bar is far too low for Mark.
Carr finally got to play in his 1st playoff game in his 8th season and Mark told himself he was right all along, Carr is the guy!

I listened to that press conference and I did not come away with any suggestion that Carr being extended is a done deal. Dave had opportunities where he could have said that signing Carr was his first priority this offseason or something like that. He never went there.
Of course they all said nice things about Carr and well any player that would have been brought up...but there was no commitment given, no suggestion that this was Carr's team and that their job was to find talent that would enable him to win. No, what I heard was that both were determined to build a winner that could sustain that winning and no commitment was made to any player.
I think Carr will be on trial this upcoming season. Either he will pass or he will fail. But for right now, my impression given what I saw, there was no long term commitment to Carr. NONE.

Can’t wait till we play BB again with Mcdaniels coaching Derek and they run this coverage.
He could have shredded that defense by just running.

Serious question :
What would primetime Al do with him if he had him as QB? how long would he have lasted on the field?

What would primetime Al do with him if he had him as QB? how long would he have lasted on the field?
Maybe he would have benched Carr and traded him after he refused to throw a Hail Mary to the end zone on a called play especially if Al called it in and gave a bullshit excuse after the game on why he didn’t
Del Rio:

Del Rio:
Carr:That was a called throw into the end zone, so would like to give that more time, let those guys get down there and take a shot at it,” Del Rio said. “That’s the whole idea. That’s what we practice. That’s what we prepared to do in that situation. It’s not a high percentage play, but you get your one in 10. We’ll take it. That was an opportunity there at the end of the half, after we had the misfortune with the fumble go back the other way and all that, to try and take a shot there. So, yes, that was called and needed to be executed much better
How long does McDaniels put up with this because Mark has shown time and again he’s picking Carr over any coach. For me, I’m not even being funny; it’s simple math,” Carr said. “Cover 2 with three receivers where everyone is dropping deep. There’s four, five, six, seven guys for three. At the end of the day, you roll out. You can throw it up or take a better option underneath when we’ve seen guys be able to break tackles and things like that. Maybe keep it alive, those kinds of things.

What would primetime Al do with him if he had him as QB? how long would he have lasted on the field?
Well, we know one fact: when AL had "his" QB, he protected him and tried to see to it that he had a winning record as a Raider.
AL would have probably benched Carr his entire rookie season. No 3-13 season.
Then, if he had decided to tank a second season, Reggie did it Carr's 1st 2 seasons, Carr probably would have stayed on the bench until late in the season when the team was ready to win.
Carr would have had a career winning record after the 2016 season. And fans wouldn't have the "Carr has a losing career record" narrative to use to blame him for the crappy rosters.
That much seems likely.

Even on his overhead projector and VCR tapes, Al would notice the cowardly habits of this quarterback immediately. In fact Al would never have drafted him, given his failures under the bright lights alone. I dont know for sure, but I'm pretty sure.

Ivan....no, wrong.
He used people. That was what he did. He would not have spared Carr

I don't remember where I recently read this Turkish proverb, perhaps it was here.. I tend to read through a lot of different websites. Sorry I cannot recall who to give kudos. If it was someone here, please confess so I may give appropriate credit:
When a clown moves into a palace, he doesn't become a king, the palace becomes a circus.
