2026 Defense thread
This defense doesn't have much talent at all especially after the Maxx trade. 1st time Def Coach Rob Leonard really doesn't haven't much to work with but that should change.
Are we leading with Wilson & Chinn?
Figure the Raiders might draft 1 or 2 defensive players within the 4 picks they have in the top of the draft that might be day one starters. Looks like overall though this defense is going to be built through free agency.
Thoughts.

Looks like our Defense picked up this pro-bowler edge guy from the Ravens after he failed a physical? Apparently his name is Maxx Crosby? Anyone got any info on him?

Yup pretty solid, gets 7 strong years of production off of 10 years worth of snaps.Willmark wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 6:22 pm Looks like our Defense picked up this pro-bowler edge guy from the Ravens after he failed a physical? Apparently his name is Maxx Crosby? Anyone got any info on him?

So you're saying he's good? Sounds promising.NewEraX25 wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:07 pm Yup pretty solid, gets 7 strong years of production off of 10 years worth of snaps.

Want to go 3-4 D? Better find a huge, somewhat athletic, immovable force to center the middle of the line. I'm pretty sure he's not on our roster

Agreed. They need to land someone or try to find the best DT in round 2/3.Rdrfan1964 wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:29 pm Want to go 3-4 D? Better find a huge, somewhat athletic, immovable force to center the middle of the line. I'm pretty sure he's not on our roster
Preferably a free agent.

So whats our lineup so far? Paye, Butler and Wilson up front. Crosby, Walker, Dean and Koonce as LBs. Stokes, Porter, Chinn, and Johnson. Still need a FS.

Man I wish we didn’t draft Wilson.

I was yelling as loud as I could, practically screaming at the tv screen, iphone, for a couple of weeks not to draft this dude, but no one at Raider headquarters listened, f[raiders_icon]cking idiots.

Looking at it what stands out is how young and fast we’ve gotten. Hard not to think it’s an overall improved unit but need to address depth and a monster DT, injuries are gonna happen. I can’t remember the last time we had actual nfl level linebackers.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 9:04 pm So whats our lineup so far? Paye, Butler and Wilson up front. If our offense can manage to stay on the field it would give the D a major boost, even young players need rest. Less snaps per game for everyone, including Maxx if he’s retained. No more driving hard and fast without thinking about the mileage.

Yep. Watching the Dean highlights, he ain't going to get that many clear lanes if there is no DLine occupying the 5 OLineman. No NT on this roster, that is still a piece to add. I can see him flanked by Butler and Booker/Hemingway.Rdrfan1964 wrote: Wed Mar 11, 2026 7:29 pm Want to go 3-4 D? Corleone is one of my fav NT’s in this draft, the fact that he is squat compared to the other NT is an advantage being that he is freakishly powerful & agile for a kid his size. I’m hoping we draft him & can develop Pegues having two big quick & powerful NT’s to rotate would set the D up to succeedGoodTimeCharlie wrote: Thu Mar 12, 2026 5:13 am Lots of big sumbitches in this draft. 99.9% sure we’ll end up with one of them.

Was Chester McGlockton really the last truly dominant NT we had, if we could see our way to drafting another McGlockton (with a work ethic) this defence could take off
