Carr having his usual jekyl & hyde season it is nothing new
He’s been terrible for half the year 1st half of the Ravens & Miami
Play good against Steelers, Broncos & Eagles
Stunk the place up against the Bears, Chargers & Giants so no this is ‘t one week there have been multiple & it seems to me that whenever the pressure ramps up to take a lead we lose. That is no coincidence as it has happened time & time again
Everyone coming in with excuses but apart from an injury ravaged Ravens who we caught on the hop week 1 & the Chargers - how good are the rest of those teams, i’ll answer that there not all that
As for the Josh Allen lost to the Jags excuse so shit happens well he has proved his worth in that he has twice been to the playoffs with the Bills so gets that pass
The big question really is - Does our QB have the mental capacity to win & get us over the hump when it matters or does the pressure get to much?

even brady and rodgers have a bad games, but nothing like carr did
consistency is the key here
because we have no idea which version carr is playing week in and out

Elite QB's matter. Carr isn't elite and never will be.....

Yesterday looked so promising for Carr, and the offense in general, on the first drive. Really sloppy after that. Hopefully it's a matter of putting too much pressure on himself after the Ruggs incident and we have a bounceback vs the Chiefs.

the raiders need to take a good hard look why carr not doing well in november and december
there is a pattern for the last 3 years, you can look at 2015 and 2017 where carr falling apart in the 2nd half of the season too
6-4 record, finish 1-5
6-3 record, finish 2-5
5-2 record, so far 0-1
if we can't get in the playoffs this year after 5-2 mark, then carr gotta go

Every time I want to drink the Derek Carr koolaid, he reminds me why the idea of extending him gives me serious pause.
Again, it’s all a matter of opportunity cost, which manifests itself in two ways. First, even if Carr takes a discount he will likely earn north of $25m/yr, >10% of the salary cap. That number is tricky, because if Carr plays to the top of his ability that’s a fuckin bargain. But on the flip side, Carr always has a handful of games where he’s not just part of the problem, he IS the problem. Is that type of player worth 1/10 the salary cap? Which brings me to my next point— if we keep Carr, we will not be actively looking for another QB. To find a great QB, you have to look.
To be fair, Carr has been mostly good this season and as I said I was enjoying some Carr Koolaid (my mistake!). I can excuse one bad game, I can excuse a bad stretch of games. Heck, with the adversity surrounding yesterday’s game, it’s easy to understand the lack of focus. But a great leader is the reason why the team in disarray gets a W; Carr wasn’t even a neutral factor in this game, he was the deciding factor in this loss IMO. And being an 8th year pro, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect him to rise to that occasion— either he has it in him or he doesn’t at this point.
RaiderBulldog said “no rookie QB would do better with the 2014 Raiders”, and honestly I don’t know if that’s true, but who gives a shit? We are 7 years removed from that. I do agree that the turnover over that time period hasn’t helped him, but guess what: the Raiders are in for more turnover! Not all his fault, although I think it’s fair to note that he’s been the most important player on the roster in that stretch. But regardless of how much of his lack of development is his fault vs the fault of the organization, Carr has grown into a player who can put up great stats but hasn’t delivered when the franchise has needed him the most.
As the final thought in a long post, I’ll say this: if we finish the season strong and make the playoffs it will be a big feather in Carr’s cap. The context of the distractions around the Giants game will become much more forgivable and overcoming adversity to make the playoffs will deserve praise, regardless of how it happens, IMO. But if we head into another collapse, the “turnover and distraction and new weapons, etc” argument will sound hollow to me. 8 years of excuses for a guy who hasn’t done shit— the AFC is wide open. Go get it Mr. Carr, real Raiders do real things

I guess quite a few of you should be prepared to be upset, angry or to quit the team as you threaten to do because it really seems like Carr is going absolutely nowhere.
