New coach ………. Again
What’s your thoughts? I prefer young offensive minded with a fresh DC. Kubiak, Cooter, Kafka and pair them with someone like Al Harris as the DC.

Same exact thing was said about Ben Johnson and look where he's at right now. I'd take Kliff over most of these slop names being mentioned.SkullCrusher wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 12:50 pm Yeah the Kingsbury thing didn't work out either.
Kingsbury must be a little narcissist, one year bomb as OC and now thinks he's a hot com for HC?

Ben seemed 3 top 5 years in a row as OC before HC.BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 1:10 pm Same exact thing was said about Ben Johnson and look where he's at right now. I'd take Kliff over most of these slop names being mentioned.
I actually don't hate Kingsbury, but Ben's resume was stronger.
And are retreads in our out?

Perhaps. It should be quick to see if true.Rabidraider wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 1:08 pm He did take Daniels to the NFC title game as a rookie. I bet he has eyes fro Mendoza.

I'm just saying people called Ben a narcissist and introvert. People didn't think he would succeed as a HC bc of it.SkullCrusher wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 1:30 pm Ben seemed 3 top 5 years in a row as OC before HC.

For me, I want no parts of a retread. Zero. I think it would set this franchise back even more. They need to take a shot on originality with their own up n comer. I'm also all for ringing Cignetti's phone but I don't see that as realistic.

Retreads have one advantage that can help. They know what they did the first time and if they are bright they learned from that. And a retread does not necessarily lack originality. That said, the only one I would consider is Stefanski, but he would need a very strong OC who called the plays.

I know we've been discussing available coaches within the NFL, but is there anyone at the college level that would peak anyone's interest?
If you're hellbent on avoiding retreads, which I understand and somewhat agree with, maybe the NCAA is a good place to look.

Kingsbury will just use the Raiders as leverage again. No thanks to that tool.BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 1:10 pm Same exact thing was said about Ben Johnson and look where he's at right now. I'd take Kliff over most of these slop names being mentioned.

He went to Washington for the QB. He could do great things with Mendoza and 100 million plus cap space.Trainnvain wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 1:45 pm Kingsbury will just use the Raiders as leverage again. No thanks to that tool.

I didn't mean that the retread coach would lack originality. I meant we would lack originality by hiring one, esp with our personal history of retreads. I'll have to disagree hard with you on Stefanski. I think he's a fraud and yes, I know he won coach of the year. Sometimes you can just tell when a coach doesn't have that 'IT' factor and that's my view of him.Attyla wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 1:39 pm Retreads have one advantage that can help. That is fair, I said at the time I would likely throw out even more names you would dislike. I have heard names I dislike. But not everyone is going to be happy no matter who gets selected.BoKnows81 wrote: Tue Jan 06, 2026 2:14 pm I didn't mean that the retread coach would lack originality. As for our history with retreads? I understand that, but I don't care as long as the next hire is not gone two years later. I understand how the NFL changed. For decades coaches stuck on teams for literally their entire career. Had Chuck Noll been judged how coaches are judged today, he would have been gone in less than three years. Now adays, owners do not have patience to see what they got. I see the second job guy gets as "what have I learned in those three years that would have changed the next three years" that the old coaches got without a break. But that is just me. I can afford a little more patience than Doofus has.

Yes. But if they go the retread route, he'd be my pick.

I’m still of the thought young offensive minded head coach and someone like Gannon, Morris or Schwartz as DC. Solid to good defenses with head coaching experience. Not likely to be snatched out too quickly and it’s easier to keep a defense going than an offense.

Where’s the other thread with a coaches poll? It had over 1300 posts. It disappears and this one gets bumped. Weird. Couldn’t they have just been combined?
