If the Geno thread is any indication I bet the FA thread turns into Civil war on Monday.
https://twitter.com/minakimes/status/18 ... 52790?s=46
Thanks for sharing this.

Most if not all QBs tend to look less effective and some bad when they are confronted with steady pressure from a DL. This stat that you have shared is one that make his prospects of coming in and even taking it to another level ....at least a possibility.

Raiders need to improve the interior of the OL and the RB stable.

A respectable offense in 2025 would go a long way to making the Raiders competitive again in the AFC West.

P.S. And yes, I do think this sort of move does have the chance of moving the needle for the Raiders in 2025. And given what I have read, I think some may be pleasantly surprised come 2025 season.
How does a 35 year old QB "solve" our quarterback problem?
Yup, it may solve the question as to who will be the opening day starting QB...but as far as solving our QB "problem", that has yet to be proven.

Some of same people that would have taken Matt Stafford are bitching about Geno Smith when right now they are around the same level at this point in there careers

Let’s bring in Shane Falco to camp that guy has lots of heart

Looking at them objectively, Smith is as good as Stafford is currently, and maybe better

Not a playoff team, not a high draft pick.
Yup...I guess maybe we should meet somewhere , form a circle and sing "Kumbaya"....followed by a chant of "We're # 22, we're #22, we're #22......."
The mere addition of Smith doesn't solve our QB problems...he isn't taking us to the promised land.
Probably not but I personally think he’s better than Brock Purdy. You can make comparisons about the team built around Brock, but I’m talking Qb to Qb.

In fact, over the past three years, Smith is the third most accurate passer in the league.

It's going to be ok.

Geno is a good team guy and when a rookie is drafted unlike Aaron Rogers, Geno will work with the kid. Alex Smiths name was brought up a few posts back. That is a great analogy both on the field and in the QB room. We didn't fork out crazy money for Darnold and as someone else mentioned we essentially traded Devante for Geno.

Over all not a sexy move but a very solid move. Looks like that seems to be the consensus here on the forum. I can live with it.

11:30 tee time, gonna try to get 36 in today before farming cranks up next week. Enjoy your Saturday fells.
I’m ok with Geno because I look at it like I would much rather have him than Davante and it’s a straight swap. He plays a much more important position and the added bonus is he has more balls than a guy we had for almost a decade.
The money part always works out and I don’t think he’s getting a contract that has meaningful money after year 2. I think we still add another in the draft. I’d rather have Geno than missing on a guy we were counting on in the draft or drafting out of desperation to make sure we got one.
Fair enough.
You mean when the Mad Bomber was the MVP (1967) and then the very next spring they draft a QB in the 1st round and draft Stabler in the 2nd?
As in we have long been a team that, for the most part, have had a lot of success by taking QBs off of other rosters or grabbed a vet in free agency. We are not known for drafting and developing QBs successfully. LaMonica was a Raider via a trade, much like Geno.
If the Raiders can see a path that a QB drafted can realistically be the long term answer then that imo is still on in any round of the draft. The flyer pick means... a QB that holds the clipboard and then disappears. We need picks that will see the field, even if it is rotational.
TAH DAH !....thank you.
