Thats been my point. You can't win in this league with a QB making 40 million a year. But that's hardly ever the point in the discussion about Carr. It's he sucks, he's a pussy, he's a loser. I've said all along that this team doesn't have the talent and any QB that is put into this position will fail. The roster needs to be better. This teams needs to draft better, the need to sign quality free agents, they need a solid defense and good coordinators and stability in coaching staff/front office. Thats what successful franchises looks like. Then the Carr haters say, Carr needs pro bowlers all over the field to succeed. No. Every QB in this league needs a good roster to succeed. It just so happens that Carr has had some really awful teams. People think that as long was you have a "franchise" Qb , your team wins. That is rarely the case. You thing it's that easy to find a Justin Herbert. Before Carr the last pro bowl QB the Raiders drafted was Kenny Stabler in 1968. Beuerlein went to a pro bowl with the Panthers in his 11th season and 6th team. He also never had a winning season and only started over 10 games 4 times in his 14 year career
Here is every qb the Raiders have drafted in-between Stabler and Carr
1968 Ken Stabler(2)
1973 Mike Rae(8)
1975 Harry Knight(9)
1975 David Humm(5)
1975 Tom Doyle(14)
1976 Jeb Blount(2)
1980 Marc Wilson (1)
1983 Scott Lindquist(12)
1984 Randy Essinger(14)
1985 Rusty Hilger (6)
1987 Steve Beuerlein(4)
1988 Dave Weber (11)
1989 Jeff Francis (6)
1990 Major Harris (12)
1991 Todd Marinovich(1)
1993 Billie Joe Hobert(3)
2001 Mrques Tuiasosopo(2)
2005 Andrew Walter(3)
2007 Jamarcus Russell (1)
2011 Terrelle Pryor(3)
2013 Tyler Wilson (4)
20 QB's in between Stabler And Carr and Steve Buerlien had the best career and it wasn't in a Raider uniform. Drafting a QB is not easy. I'm saying it isn't a forgone conclusion that we will find one. It only took 46 years in between Stabler to Carr.
Yeah, I will say, I’m not as high on Carr as you seem to be. I think he’s a mediocre quarterback that could win surrounded by a good team, but he is absolutely the best one we’ve had since Gannon.
But in my opinion you pay the guys 35-40mil who elevate your team, and I don’t think Carr does that. So what the Raiders should do, in my opinion, is trade him to a team like the Steelers who are a mediocre-good QB away, stock up on picks, and build the roster. To me, Carr isn’t going to elevate this team past what we’ve seen this year, as he’s had 8 seasons to do so. And frankly, I’m not satisfied with “just be thankful we made the playoffs!” Just making the playoffs, when you know your team isn’t going anywhere in them, is a recipe for a mediocre team, and I honestly think mediocrity is worse in sports than being strictly bad. At least the bad teams have a chance at the generational players at the top of the draft.
The Raiders are just good enough that they’re picking guys with some talent hoping they hit, and we all know their track record the last 20 years.
So when I am seeing the whole field because I am at the game and I see a receiver wide open, he isnt really open until Carrfax tells me why? When guys calling the game on tv like Romo, Gannon and Aikman and they say a guy was wide open, they don’t really know for sure until they hear from Carrfax and all 22?
Learn something new everyday
Those recievers on the field waving their arms to get spotted, seemingly wide open - total dumbasses. They don't even know how covered they are.
Only Carr and that Carrfax dude can see the 'Angels in the outfield' defending them, but they are there - no question.
Yup that's what the announcers are doing during the game is breaking down film. They have 5 minutes in between each play to break it down. They call a game for simple minded fans who don't understand the game. Have you ever even watched tape of game before. Most likely not, thats why you give smart ass comments.
LMAO this is gold David!
Lol. He had the nice TD against Dallas but his other two most memorable plays to me were the huge drop last Saturday and the run the wrong way and then fumble fiasco.
