May the football godz look kindly down upon the feeble and inept.

So this is the first time you have seen him

Good
Passes were clean
Footwork was solid
Evaded and cut and ran when needed
Focused his offense

Bad
Pocket awareness, gotta get those balls out
Terrible decision blew up one of his guys
Want him under center on passing plays as well as run plays

Overall
TD passes were beauties. He needs to clean up his awareness but he saw the field downfield really well. Drop was on the defensive hit, cannot avoid those. He is leading the team.

Conclusion
He did nothing to make me not want him. He will be very good at the next level as long as we can get our protection situated
Have you applied for Raiders scouting vacancy that is available right now…..

Alabama blitzed Fernando Mendoza a season-high 12 times. He was 8-8 for 161 yards and 3 TD against 5 or more pass rushers, the first QB with 3 pass TD vs the Alabama blitz since Texas A&M’s Johnny Manziel in 2013 👏

So I spent some time thinking about what we saw yesterday. Obviously, there are other games he has played and the tape is out there if you want to look at it. But I did have another thought about what we saw that you might have missed. It was just a second on the screen.

With the game firmly in hand, Mendoza did not savor the moment. With like 3 minutes to go, he was not on the sidelines enjoying the victory. He was on the bench next to a coach looking at game stills. Going over what he was doing out there and the looks Alabama was showing him. This may not have triggered with you, but coupled with the story they told of how he got an advanced list of his teammates with their picture and how he memorized each one so he could greet each by name....and let that sink in, that can be up to 100 guys, this is an impressive young man. He prepares hard and he studies hard. Think we need him?

I agree, his work ethic and intelligence seems to be on a different level than most guys coming out in recent memory. Very rarely do I believe QBs taken 1st overall are "can't miss." Mendoza is no different, but I think it's clear his character makes it so that if you give him the tools to succeed he'll at the very least not make it a wasted selection.

I really wanted Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye in '24. Athletically they are more gifted than Mendoza but I do think Mendoza is further along as a pure passer than those guys were coming out, he'll just need to take a different route at the next level as them since he can't rely on his legs like they can. Besides that I'd have to go back Burrow to find another prospect I liked as much as Mendoza. And I see some similarities in them if I'm being honest. Burrow had that godlike senior year at LSU, but that offense was absolutely stacked.

Not to say Mendoza will become Burrow, but I do view him as a substantially better prospect than many of the QBs outside of the guys I mentioned above in the last few years. But he will require a huge offseason of buying quality veteran talent to help ensure his development. If we're going all in on a QB at 1st overall, we need to open up the wallet. This roster will ruin any QB if we don't protect our investment.

I saw this also. They also said he did the same before going to the Heisman ceremony, with all the former Heisman winners.

Looking at Mendoza's running stats prior to the game made me think he couldn't get out of his own way. But watching him yesterday I saw that he can also move well in the pocket and for critical yards at critical times.

We have to get the 1st pick, by hook or crook...

Next get to see Moore and Mendoza on the same field . Should be interesting. Will Moore elevate his game? Will Mendoza be consistent again? Texas Tech was all over the Oregon backfield so Moore and his OC should be ready for that against Indiana. That freshman CB for Oregon is amazing. I bet Indiana goes at him early.

One more loss, one more loss.

As a life long Raiders fan this will be the first time I will be hoping we don't win a game. Only because I believe it is the best way to get this team back to it's glory years. And at my age I don't have to much longer to wait.

He went to high school around here and he was listed at 6ft even in high school so yes he's probably under 6ft or close to it
