If he can change the culture, build the real base and lead by creating leaders that is enough for me.
Absolutely. He's got a few rock solid leaders already with which to build. I'm so used to coaches that wouldn't be coaches anywhere else that this is a welcome change of pace. At least it is for me, as a fan, it is
Especially when you compare it to Dallas
Jerry promoted within from a staff that was let go. The idea that Schittenheimer can change anything is laughable. As an OC he didn't even call plays.
I think we're in a great spot with Spytek and I sincerely think when PC leaves, this will be as good a job as any in pro football.

I know this is unpopular... But I would much rather A-Ron for one year than Russ OR Geno for multiple.
If we add a QB like Russ but also go ahead and draft a 2nd round QB who they think can develop into the guy it's fine. Ignoring the position in the draft is not an option I can get behind.
If we do sign Wilson to be a bridge guy, I would assume two things:
1) Our drafted QB is going to be mobile (because it would make zero sense to develop an offense around a mobile QB, which Wilson still is, then turn it over in 2026 to a guy who's a pocket passer).
2) AOC's time here is probably done. I like the guy, but he's both schematically limited and a statute in the pocket. He can run a little but doesn't like to, and would be completely unsuited to a mobile QB offense.

I'm just saying id rather roll with him over a cooked Russ. I don't even think Russ is worthy of a bridge QB. Minshew vibes all over again.
I don't think it's inevitable from our perspective, I'd be surprised if Pete went down that road tbh. Russ needs us more than we need him, there's both better free agent options (Darnold), and the draft offers more upside (cheap contract for young player).
If Russ wants to sign for cheap, I could see it as an upgrade over AOC while we draft a QB who eventually takes over, but Russ is probably down the list a bit on what Spytek/Carroll are looking for.
BTW: we need a catchy nickname like we had for Grudock and McZiegs. Can't figure out if I like Spyroll, or Cartek better, not really sold on either tbh.
I would absolutely hate it. Dude is cooked. I'd rather roll with AO12.
I understand, but AO12 doesn't fit the type of QB Carroll likes. He isn't mobile.
I don't look for Carroll to be here much more than three years. He needs to change the culture and build the program in a reletively quick time. That won't happen with Aidon. Russ is an experienced QB that has won... and knows what it takes to win. I think Carroll will try to bring him in.
Like you, I'm not overly thrilled about that prospect, but sometimes you have to take what you can get. What's that old saying: when life gives you lemons... make lemonade.

Wilson is what I prefer for qb mobility, guys who can move but it’s not their first instinct to do so (for lack of a better term.)
The question is what is Wilson at this stage of his career? Hard to say. He played well this year but one has to wonder if he reverts to Denver level of play. Hard to say for certain.
For the QB slot this year is “all of the above” IMO.
- draft a QB early.
- draft a QB late as well
- sign a FA QB
- keep Minchew, not because he’s all that good but because of contract (I believe one year left) and he’s done better elsewhere. You have to wonder if that’s simply due to Getsy’s offense.
-AOC12? As much as I like him I don’t see him staying. A lot will depend on the offensive scheme and OC if he stays or goes.

If Darnold is available, by all means grab him for a season or two.

Draft JDart late 1st or early 2nd, sit behind a Super Bowl winning 9x Pro Bowl QB with similar skills and learning from the greatest QB of all time…..Very UnRaider like….
I kind of like it.

What's confusing to me (if strengthening the team for the future is the goal) is why we didn't hold back some of our horses during the final run of the season, those two extra wins cost us the top pick in the draft, when it was clearly in reach. A simple move like naming Ridder or Bradley the starter (for evaluation reasons), could have paid big dividends, but we didn't do it, yet we've just hired a coach who's main job seems to be to fix the culture so he can hand it off to someone else.
I'm just confused at the mixed signals I'm getting. For example, our top choice was a young offensive mind, our second choice the oldest HC in nfl history who's a defensive guy. You couldn't have had two candidates more different from eachother. I'd like to be positive and think this org has a clear plan on what it's trying to accomplish, but all the tea leaves tell me we're winging it and hoping for the best.
Hopefully Spytek can draft well and make good decisions on the roster because I'm far less optimistic about Pete Carroll than I wish I could be. To me, this feels like the same ole' Raider desperation hire.

It was Telesco and Pierce trying (unsuccessfully) to preserve their jobs. And Mark or Brady ordering Telesco or Pierce to sit Starter X to deliberately lose games would be a horrible precedent to set.
As for going from Johnson to Carroll: I think it's a case of Brady and his committee really liking Carroll from the start, but also thinking Johnson was special enough to clear out everything specifically for him. They likely didn't get that vibe from Aaron Glenn, and there's no evidence Liam Coen (who I wouldn't want anyway, given his subsequent conduct) or Todd Monken were seriously interested in coming here.
We're a dysfunctional organization until we're not, and getting Spytek was significant. It's now up to him and Carroll to (as I explained to my wife yesterday) install the machine of a successful football program and get it running so Carroll can turn it over to the next HC in a few years.

Something to consider is AP was feeling the heat and wanted to get a win or 2 regardless.
If there was a group of QBs with May, Daniels, Williams and the other, I have to believe Mark and Brady would have forced AP to play Ridder and Bradley to evaluate them.
Ward and Sanders will get overdrafted and we may miss out on them. But we should not be surprised if Dart, Howard or the others turn out to be as good or better.

I get that AP wasn't going to hold back, but Telesco could have definitely done something (like IR AOC when he bruised his knee, that was a nice convenient excuse to get Ridder or Bradley some extended time).
