In reply to "the usual refrain of it isn't Carr's fault" respectfully, often it is. To me this really cuts to the heart of the matter and can't really be argued against.

Sorry if this upsets some folks but its the harsh truth, in 2021 Carr was more likely to turn the ball over than throw a TD:

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/ ... ll_passing

2021
INTs: 14 & Fumbles: 13 vs. 23 TDs

No matter what anyone wants to say in defense of him there is really no excusing the turnovers. Were all his fault? No. But in the same vein that evens out because not every TD pass is because of him in the sense that a WR could have made a great play that evens it out IMO.

Turnovers at the worst time from him killed us all year. First Bengals game as a prime example.

Add to this its not just this year, In his career he is far and above a player with his years in the league and his rate. Take for instance fumbles, for a career he is way, way up there:
https://www.pro-football-reference.com/ ... career.htm

We often talk about a elite vs not elite here with him. Well, here is one way to look at is the elite QBs ahead of him have no where near his fumbling rate and have far more seasons:

Carr 76 in 8 seasons
(Active Elite QBs)
Rodgers 84 in 16 seasons
Brady 129 in 21 seasons

Fumbles in a way are even worse than INTs due to the (usual) corresponding field position changes.

No matter how you slice it, not good
I trust Rich Gannon’s opinion of our QB & he has denounced those clutch throws as a nothing stat & rightfully so
And plenty of former QBs in the media won’t denounce the throws

Off the top of the my head RG3 came out and gave Carr love right after the game
This is simply not true, either. You're on a roll.
It actually is. Unless there is a busted coverage or you get an open corner, the end zone is blanketed

If you can fit it at the 2 or 1, then your wr has the opportunity to back in.

You get the ball as close as you can and let your guy power it in. Unless the DB hits the wr directly in the back, there’s a good chance the ball breaks the goal line

You should pay a little more attention
Who was he going to throw it too? Waller and Renfrow were both 7 yards short of the end zone. Watch the play again before you make stupid comments.

https://twitter.com/bampac29/status/148 ... 95782?s=20
How about a pump fake to Jones and then a touch pass to Waller? He was under no pressure and could've done that. It's a play that winning QB makes. It's a play where a QB with good field vision sees before it happens and then makes it happen.

I'm not blaming this loss on Carr, but you're just gaslighting us at this point. There was a play to be made there and Carr didn't make it. He got tunnel vision, locked onto Jones, and threw a hopeless pass to a guy who was triple covered. It was a disastrous choice.
