Agreed...with the Browns no longer having Myles Garrett, opposing offenses won't have to key on him any longer and I doubt those same offenses will give Verse the same amount of respect.Hellbound wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2026 7:03 am That was with arguably the best defensive player in the league. It'll be interesting to see how far they fall off. Verse might be good but he's not close to Myles Garrett good

Kwity Paye is going to be a sneaky good signing, IMO. I think the same about Quay Walker specifically. Kwity can play the run and pass well. I think he'll benefit from Maxx on the other side. Koonce & Crawford will rotate in and keep them fresh. Defense gained a lot of ground this off-season. If Mccoy & Dean hold up injury wise? Skys the limit

I think the Browns made the right decision in trading Garrett. Verse is very good - nobody is as good as Garrett but getting younger and getting the draft haul in return is a good move for a team that doesn't even have a direction at this point, because they don't have a QB or a clear path to a QB.

I won't bag on the Brown's because everything they have wrong we've had similar.chucker wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2026 9:58 am I think the Browns made the right decision in trading Garrett. They do have 2 first and second round rookies this year and 2 firsts next, 2 seconds year after that, that's solid for sure.
Their draft is graded as one of the best, average FA period.
Their D is good and I don't see it falling on it's face with Garret going.
They have two pro-bowl QB's! :)

The Browns have resources for sure. Some draft picks have to fall in place high enough to draft the right QB though, and it would be a miracle if the right guy is already on the roster. They might have a good enough D that they win too many to have a great QB fall in their lap.SkullCrusher wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2026 11:08 am I won't bag on the Brown's because everything they have wrong we've had similar.

We are in a different situation now simply because we may have the right guy at QB already on the roster ( I love Mendoza but time will tell). We're building, they're searching.

If they were in a flag football league, I would bet on them for sure.SkullCrusher wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2026 11:08 am I won't bag on the Brown's because everything they have wrong we've had similar.

I mean he was, he’s a poor man’s Maxx in theory. Good against the run and solid at pass. Obviously Maxx is much better but I can see what they were going for. Regardless, Paye is better than Koonce and will absolutely start over him.raiderjohn wrote: Wed Jun 17, 2026 5:10 pm I hope so. I thought he was signed to replace Maxx after the failed trade. Definitely need the depth.

I believe that the crux of the Browns issues are a bit more management related than personnel related.
But when you combine both of those shortcomings, you end up with a franchise that's been bad for a long time.
...sound familiar?

They have spent a lot of resources on three questionable QBs and have added a lot of firepower for next season's latest Browns bust. While we have no room to look down on any franchise, particularly at the QB position, in the last 10 years alone, the Browns have trotted out 26 starting QBs and that does include 2 seasons where they had the same starter all year. That means, and I shit you not, in 8 of the last 10 seasons the Browns have had 25 different starters. If I am a QB being drafted into that franchise, I pull an Eli like nobody's business.chucker wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2026 11:12 am The Browns have resources for sure. They are owned by their own Mark Davis. That is the problem in a nut sjell.raidersince63 wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2026 12:25 pm I believe that the crux of the Browns issues are a bit more management related than personnel related.

Yep, their problem is not sucking enough in the year to draft a franchise QB.Attyla wrote: Thu Jun 18, 2026 12:47 pm They have spent a lot of resources on three questionable QBs and have added a lot of firepower for next season's latest Browns bust. Didn't see this clip posted anywhere.
3:25 In response to the question how are you handling the quarterback situation... "We are giving guys a fair share of reps and I would not count Aidan out! Adian has had a phenomenal off season, he's a professional. He's pushing Kirk, he's pushing Fernando".
Guess I never expected that one. Brought him up immediately first thing by name.
6:57 Talking about the defense... "we want to stop the run, we want to limit explosive passes and we want to take the ball away".
7:04 Tagging onto that he states... "I think every defense is going to say they want a version of that, but it's really important that you want to limit explosive plays, you want to stop the run and you want to take the ball away".
I have been hearing this same song and dance for decades on end now from every coach in the league. Especially the part about stopping the run, which in turn means offensively they want the ability to run the football, force there will on the defense and wear them out. Stay two dimensional offensively, and keep your defense off the field and fresh. The more things change the more they stay the same. Football 101.

4:13 "extremely cerebral". He's as sharp as tack and an english major to boot. Man o man. Love the fact he's able to identify his teammates character.
4:44 Is there any simulitaroites between Klint's offense and the offense you came from in Indiana? "Well I think every offense is similar because football is football at the end of the day. Like it can't be that much different to have an effective offense. But the schematics of it are different and there are a lot more under center variables.
