Strange coincidence that you posted this today. I forgot that movie existed until earlier today when I saw a news story that the 110 year old firehall building in Nelson that was used as a main location for this is slated for replacement - when it was built it was for horses, not trucks.
Life is strange.
I know you live in Canada but I take it you live near here?
I went to see this with a girl I was dating at the time in the bay area in 1987 when it was released. I had never seen the ad on television for Roxanne and had no idea what it was about. A few minutes in I realized this was an adaptation of Cyrano de Bergerac and 15 or so minutes in I loved it. Halfway though she said let's get out of here this movie is horrible! I went back later that night by myself and paid again to see it and ended up loving it. I thought to each their own and shortly after we stopped seeing each other.
To this day it's my favorite adaptation. So many clever lines in this movie i'm still in awe of whomever wrote the script. Chris: What am I afraid of her for she's no rocket scientist. C.D. Well, actually she is.
Thanks for the update on the town and the trivia. I have yet to see any of Canada and looking forward to it one day...

Cool town, with tons of great mountain biking.

This is a great conceptual film from the early 1980’s
Koyaanisqatsi (life out of balance) is the first of the Qatsi trilogy by Director Godfrey Reggio (USA).
With images of high poetic value and great emotional impact, this experimental film observes the world and the effect that man has had on the landscape and the environment.
