...it was the Jets, they putting a squad together to get Manning.RunOverByHubbard wrote: Wed Mar 18, 2026 9:55 am With regards to Parham -- I don't care what scheme was or is being run -- Parham got run over too often for my taste, that is, pushed into the backfield. I was surprised to see a team shell out that much money for him.
Hopefully moving on from him, helps our short yardage.

Can we stop with the cap is not an issue, we can create more space with the stroke of a pen. They may be able to, but will they? Teller signed for 8 million. Zeitler is out there and would take less than that. This seems to me to be a statement that theyre done with the big ticket spending and are only going dumpster diving at this point. Sad that they have only spent a total of 16 million to this point for 2027 on upgrading the biggest problem, after QB. We dont need another player to set a low floor at OG as Rogers insurance and to deemphasize the need to draft an OG. We already have Meredith for that. Spend money upgrading OG so that the floor that Rogers has to exceed is high.

Quality not quantity. Only 11 men are allowed on the field.

but you have to have rotational guys, your statement is oversimplified.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Mar 18, 2026 1:26 pm Quality not quantity. Only 11 men are allowed on the field.

I would like a rotation of Zeitler, Rogers and Meredith. Not Rogers, Burford and Meredith. Raise the floor, not keep the status quo.Attyla wrote: Wed Mar 18, 2026 1:29 pm but you have to have rotational guys, your statement is oversimplified.

We signed the most expensive FA olineman in the NFL. He might only have a $16 million cap hit this year but the actual cap hit is $27 million. We still have to pay it, even if it doesn't hit the cap this year.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Mar 18, 2026 1:23 pm Can we stop with the cap is not an issue, we can create more space with the stroke of a pen. They will create cap space if they decide they need it. They may have already decided that the best choice at guard is JPJ plus Rogers and then some depth behind them. They may have already decided that Grant plus depth is the best choice at RT (I don't think we have depth there yet, but Glaze might end up better under better coaching). And then if the draft presents some great opportunities you go after them.
Right now the best approach in FA is to go bargain hunting - because there will be bargains out there as the days and weeks go on. Two of our best FA signings were bargain bin additions of Donald Penn and Michael Crabtree - after they found little market for their services.
Every dollar you spend in cap cost is a dollar you don't have available in the future.

My buddy who is a die hard Niners fan, his exact words....good f[raiders_icon]cking riddance, he SUCKED. I agree wholeheartedly with him. Idk, sometimes you guys feel the need to justify every signing we make, even the bad ones. I remember the same exact statements being made when we signed Cappa. At no point do i want any bums near my shiny new QB this year, esp on the O line. Depth or not.
I've been on board with almost every move this new regime has made except Kwity Paye and this bum. Doesn't mean I'm jumping off a bridge. But there were better options available at guard after free agency begun.

I responded to your comment about only 11 players by noting that teams need depth so you then pivoted to the depth completely ignoring that you were not talking about depth when I made my comment.
Pretty obvious actually

My comment about 11 players is that you cant improve by hiring more redundant mediocre players. You cant put two mediocre players on the field at the same position to make it 1 good player out of them, because the rules only allow for 11 at a time. You misunderstood my post.

A. You're not gonna have pro bowlers at every spot. B. Klint has a system and he knows what he needs for that system. C. Rick Dennison is a ZBS savant. D. Teller has been very poor in play the last multiple years. I'm not sure you knew that or not but, he's been pretty awful.Cruisin with Tooz wrote: Wed Mar 18, 2026 1:23 pm Can we stop with the cap is not an issue, we can create more space with the stroke of a pen. A.I didnt say we should or could have probowlers at every spot.Goodtimes333 wrote: Wed Mar 18, 2026 3:23 pm A. You're not gonna have pro bowlers at every spot. D. Teller has been very poor in play the last multiple years. I'm not sure you knew that or not but, he's been pretty awful.
D.What is your definition of poor and multiple? Last year he graded out as #40 out of 81 qualified guards at PFF. In 2024, an injury plagued year, he graded out as top 32. In 2023 he was 18th. In 2022 he was also top 20.
