To play devils advocate on the tank theory - Maxx has been dealing with a knee injury for a while. Why in the world would you risk that turning into a serious knee injury that would likely spill over into a huge chunk of next year?

Rumours are Maxx is furious about it but this is honestly protecting a player from himself. You’ve got nothing to prove to anyone… get healthy for next year.

And if it happens to position us better to lose out… well there is that too

I'd like to keep him too. But, by the time this team is even semi viable again he will be done. I think he's going to done sooner than later anyway with how he plays. I think it would be best to trade him to a team that needs him to get to the next level. We would get valuable picks and they would get what they need... and what Maxx deserves before his career is over.

Yep. He's like a high $ sports car with 150K miles on it. It was a stupid decision by the coaching staff to allow him to be on the field for every snap in nearly game he's played. He should have about 1/3 less the snaps he's played.

Here's a guy who was making a lot of noise about all the losing, leading many to speculate he wanted out. Then they hire PC and hes back on board. So then we go 2-15 and prolly fire PC. And winning a game now will keep him as a happy camper? I hope this is all just posturing for show, because the alternative is that he is a 24 carat idiot.
