Happy Thanksgiving and Thursday Game Day Discussion
Maybe a bit early but why not, I am expecting you all to be busy tomorrow. Me? Just the wife and I along with our pup.
But Happy Thanksgiving to all of you whether we agree or not. I also know this is a uniquely US holiday. Other countries have versions of this day but in 1863 Abraham Lincoln called for a national day of thanksgiving to be held on the last Thursday of November. The original "Thanksgiving" between the Pilgrims and the Wampanoag tribe was in 1633. And no, it is unlikely they served up what we consider the traditional meal with no turkey and most likely sea food on the table. The chances of you having a home fire triples on that day. Canada celebrates Thanksgiving in October. Americans will consume about 80 million pounds of cranberries tomorrow, and most will be from a can of that sick sauce. The rest will eat that equally gross green bean casserole made from cream of mushroom goo. More than likely, you can thank Minnesota for your bird as they produce the most in the US. But we will kill off 46 million birds just for tomorrow. One will survive after being pardoned, a tradition started by George Bush Sr. When we watch our games tomorrow we should reflect that the tradition dates back over 100 years as the first such game was in 1920, well before TVs were in every home. As a matter of fact, the TV was not invented in one sweeping time, but rather over time. The first image of a live person was in 1925 but the TV as your grandfather knew them would not be until 1927. But you can thank your leftovers for spurring the invention of the TV dinner. And finally, when you are out and about for Black Friday, one profession will see its peak in workload and that is the plumber. Yes, your ability to stop up the toilet keeps that profession hopping the next day.
And with that, I do hope those who celebrate have a great day and that we can sit and enjoy some good games.

For those searching for something to be thankful for, Cris Collinsworth will NOT be calling the game today, Jason Garrett will be taking his place.

I’m thankful the Raiders aren’t playing today to ruin it.

If a game can ruin a family holiday, maybe football is not your biggest problem? The AutumnFart wrote: Thu Nov 27, 2025 9:53 am I’m thankful the Raiders aren’t playing today to ruin it.

Go lions, or I go broke
Happy Thanksgiving guys.
My meal is a shorter term cooking affair, baked ham and Brussel sprouts and yams, not like smoking meat or baking a turkey. May you all enjoy whatever you are eating, and especially enjoy the company you are keeping.

I firmly believe we as humans NEED dogs... deserving or not. My two boys (both gone now) got me through a messy divorce at 54 years old. The boy I have now is my companian and best buddy. I don't think I can ever live without a dog in my life.
